looks like a Smith and Wesson top break. here's a page full of them. which most closly resembles yours?

Looks somewhat like a few but here is more pictures of it. To release the top break has a lever on side u will beable to see in pictures thanks for fast reply

Looks kinda like a Webley but not really. Maybe a Spanish knock off

Im from south louisiana i found it while walking through the swamp. Spanish did settle here back in the day but have no idea where to start and figure out what it is..

you found it in the swamp? that to me sounds like a murder weapon.. i mean it couldnt have been there for too long with the shape it is in

Was actually found bout 11 years ago i put it away thought i lost it and ran across it in some boxes. Dk bout a murder weapon we arent high crime town. Would just love to find more out about it and history of it and How old

only marking on it is right in front of reolver on barrel. HC CEOT SEC JR it is something like that idk bout the O do to it not a full sircle looks like 2 half circles.

The book I have shows a picture of something very close to this.

" Warnant; L & J. Warnant Freres, Hognee. 9-11mm, five or six shot
This gun has a Francotte type locking latch on the left side of the frame.
But others have had them both on the sides of the breech. The upper rear
portion of the grips usually has a characteristic protrusion. Spent cases were
ejected simultaneously when the breech was opened. Late 1800's.
