| Super Moderator ![]() | Not so freakish AR dream Ok, here's what BattleRifle's looking for in an AR-15 (more likely later than now): stainless steel everything that can be (at least lower receiver) slickside (I hate the forward ASSist) Carry handle and regular sites as long a barrel as possible (24-26" is fine) Classic triangular handguard And looking to do this as affordably as possible, ie without buying much that I have to chuck for my preferred piece. Olympic had an upper that looked good, DPMS had the right lower. Olympic does have a kit with everything but stripped lower. Thinking of starting with that and a DPMS stainless lower. Saw an FN slickside carry handle upper receiver at a gun show a while back. Olympic did have the upper with the barrel and forend I wanted, but pretty pricey.

| Seems like anything and everything is available for AR15's - they are to centerfires what the Ruger 10-22 is to rimfires. It's not hard to find what you want - just have to come up with the cash!

| Super Moderator ![]() | More I look at it, the more I'd replace about the upper - handguards, barrel, upper receiver... Might as well screw the full kit and just get a lower kit or complete lower, and build the upper to my specs.

| Don't forget a gas piston!

| Super Moderator ![]() | Of course, how could I forget that? Actually, I think I will do a piston conversion eventually, when I have the tooling and designs drawn up.
