Only good for shooting paper, too heavy for a tactical or service rifle. 2 20.00%
It doesn't do any good putting stainless steel there, and is just a waste of weight and money. 0 0%

Stainless Steel Lower - Heresy?

I was thinking of building an AR up from a DPMS stainless steel lower receiver.

Kind of funny how the AR was designed to be super light weight and now the fad is heavy barrels and tons of huge target/tactical accessories. Think the SS lower would add much overall structural strength, or it is where material is needed less and just useless weight?

Perhaps with this upper:

Or this one, in the post ban version of course:

Or maybe just get a barrel assembly and bolt carrier and use them on this upper, as I'm not a fan of the forward ASSist:

If you really insist on bringing that monstrosity to life Dr. Frankengun, at least use the upper with the stainless postban barrel!

Maybe, but it costs more, and isn't as long as I want, and has its longevity drawbacks. But I think I got it... Long chrome muzzle brake maybe?

I think it would look better with a shorter stainless barrel, it would match the receiver. I'm sure you can find a stainless muzzle brake for it. I have seen them, just can't remember where.

I'm tempted to get a 24" upper and a 16" upper, the latter in Stainless since it's available. But building the AR in the first place would cost a chunk.

Here's the 16" stainless barrel upper:

With a post ban barrel of course. I used the Pre-ban pic because it had the stainless barrel with an A2 upper.

Here's what it would look like with a 16" SS upper.

Maybe 20", but I'd rather have the best of one or the other, biggest or smallest. Yeah, I know, I need major help.

Finally made a pic of each barrel size: 16" SS, 20" SS, and 24" Chrome moly

I think I'll do the upper config for a 223 rifle and the lower one for my freakish conversion in the design process. Both when a few ships come in.
