what in your opinion

is the most important aftermarket modification for an AR-15
free float fore end, triggerjob, titanium firing pin etc ?

:assult: before we hear from Papa G allow me to point out that you don't see me going to the M-14/M1A forum and blasting it..this is in the AR-15 section of the forum :assult: I know how you feel about the AR-15..and I still don't care

Since you didn't say anything about me:

The most important aftermarket modification for an AR-15 would be to sell it and get two AK's and lots of ammo!

the best accessory for the AR, or any Semi-auto is going to be the proper sized PVC tube, end caps, and cosmoline come Sept, or beyond.

Most important? Don't knw if its the MOST important but loose the cotter pin in the bolt carrier and get the straight titanium pin. As for a titanium firing pin, too expensive for its necessity. I've fired thousands of rounds throught several ARs and never broke a firing pin. In fact, the only one i know of to break was one dry fired once too many times. Besides for the price of one titanium you can buuy 3 regular ones. They aren't that hard to change if and when one breaks.

Depends on the configuration -- Have you thought about a simple one add a sling swivel stud and get it fit for a harris bipod its worth the few bucks for the kit from brownells -- How do you have the rifle set up at this moment? long barrel or short barrel, full stock or collapsable, carry handle or flattop, -- for the free float idea why not try building a wildcat caliber, I have a flat top upper with an Oly Arms 6x45mm barrel free floated and set with a Leopold Vari X II. The nice thing is you get to use the same mags and the same bolt for this rig.

if are gona buy new get what you want to begin with, bush master makes several versions that are worked up and there will be no need to alter them after you get it.
thier varmint modle is offering a free float hand guard, match triger, and bbl and is factory garenteed to shot less than 1" groups at 100yrds we sell them for around $940.00 or so, they retail fro well over $1000.00. DPMS (panther) also makes several modles and are a lil les costly.

I would have to agree with a trigger job on most would help. The Rock River trigger is probably one of the best right out of the box. Had to do a little polishing on the Olympic when I first got it,works real well now. Also go with the good GI mags, as that's where most of the problems arise with the ARs. Oh, almost forgot AKs Suck!!!!!
