I'm not really unhappy with it at all. I'm about to fix the takedown pin problems now by installing new ones and trimming them to fit. Come to think of it, this could well be an issue of inter-company parts differences, where the holes for the detent springs may be shorter on my receiver than the ones the springs were designed for.

My AR has fed every brass cased round reliably out of the three 30rd mags. Only a tight fitting 20rd mag has failed to feed brass ammo. Wolf also has failed to feed. Perhaps it's short cycling, I'm not sure, or perhaps oiling the ammo would solve that problem. It has fired every Wolf round that left the magazine.

I just intend to clean it thorougly and not take it into the crud that a standard rifle should be able to take. My AKs, M1, and G3 can do that fine. If the 30-06 Saigas ever come through, and if I ever get a PSL, I'll have an AK in every military round I have except 8mm (and then I may just have to do an M76 style build).

My AR is nice, but I think an AK in every caliber is worth having. I obviously think so, because I have one in each of the big three (5.56x45, 7.62x39, 7.62x51).

I guess my point is that my AR is a target rifle with tactical capabilities in CQB, but not one I'd take on campaign. I'd currently take my Saiga 7.62x39mm conversion for that, but if I'm able to do the impossible (Saiga 308 to G3 mags), it may eventually have that honor.

Never ever oil ammo.

It is standard procedure to make rounds inert is to drop them into a can of oil.

I really think you're asking for problems by introducing oil to a cartridge. One problem that comes to mind off hand is possible hang-fires.
