Hey Tommy, Any ammo is going to be maintenance intensive in the AR. Wolf just a bit more, especially in the chamber area. Get one of those good GI chamber brushes and clean often. Pay close attention to carbon on rear bolt surfaces. |

I thought wolf dumped that and changed to a polymer coating instead.

My shooting buddy got some .223 Wolf for his new Mini-14 last weekend. It has the new coating, whatever it is - different from the old glossy-green look. Shot well in the Ruger, but I don't know how an AR would like it. I only allow my Bushpup to nibble on brass.

I have no experience with the dull gray. Just opened a box of X39 with the polymer coating, haven't shot any yet. All my Wolf 223 is green laquer coated, and has been problematic in my AR-15. My Saiga 223 feeds it perfectly. Russian ammo for Russian guns.

All of the Wolf .223 manufactured since about last Spring/Summer is the new lacquor coated ammo. My AR's eat it like candy. I am VERY happy with it!!
