| Senior Member | Well, I bet you'll have no problem scaring people off with it. I have a little trouble with AR sights. It took me a while to really get used to them and now I am decent shot, but not as good I am with my old crappy mauser, weird but true. Well, congrats on the awsome piece and have lots of fun with it.:uzi:

| Banned | I feel like an idiot with my groups LOL. But, the only other AR I've shot is my brother-in-laws, and I never really used the iron sights, so I've got my work cut out for me. Of course his was a dissaptor upper so the sight radius was that of a full size rifle. |

| Senior Member | I shot an Springfield M1A1 for the first time yesterday. All I can say is WOW!!! Right out of the box, I got the 1st shot, it was so accurate. I have never shot a rifle that was so accurate right out of the box. No adjusting. I would get one if they weren't so bulky. I am really leaning towards the AR but I only have AK money. Guess it is back to 762 for me.

| Banned | You can build an AR for alot less than I did. For starters you can save some money on the bolt carrier group, subtract $40 for the trigger guard and grip. Subtract some and just get a CAR stock(4 position), and pick up a used upper for more around $200-$225 instead of $300 for a new one. Pick you up a stripped lower for under $100, and buy a kit for well under $500 and you've got a complete rifle(minus rear sights) for like $550, with all new parts. |

| Banned | Well first buy yourself a stripped lower. Stag, RRA, Double Star all make good, lower priced lowers. Stags run $95, RRA $105, and Double Star is about the same as RRA. Of course you could always call around and find some blemished lower for alot less. A good lower parts kit will run you $60. I don't know if you have punches for not, if you don't pick up a set. Punches, a small hammer, a stock wrench, and some tape are about all thats required to put a lower together, if I remember right. There are other tools you can buy, like the pivot pin install tool, but there not needed. A new RRA 6 position stock is $65, however if I could go back and do it over again I would have bought the Stag stock for the same money(it uses the mil spec tube that will work with colt and vltor stocks). |

| Senior Member | Where can I get the stripped lower and parts kits?? Is there a website that has all those parts I can buy individually with the build in mind??

| Banned | Lets see, I ordered the stripped lower from CenterFire Systems and had it shipped to a local dealer in town(he only charged me what they charged him, which was cool. He could have charged me a transfer fee too). The lower parts kit, hogue grip, and stock I got from eaglefirearms.net. Umm, the trigger guard, tools, bolt carrier group and charging handle I got from bravocompanyusa.com, and maybe the sights too(or maybe eagle firearms I dont remember). Actually, Eagle Firearms has two local FFL's on file from Tucson, Diamondback Police Supply Co Inc and The Final Option. Look here, http://www.eaglefirearms.net/ffl.htm . If you know any of the places they have listed all you need to do is run in and tell them you want a Stag or RRA stripped lower from Eagle Firearms. They'll call them up, order it, and when you come in you fill out the forms like you would for any other firearm than its yours. And don't let anyone tell you differently, the lower receiver is the ONLY part that requires paper work. Nothing else is considered a firearm except for that lower. Nice. I bought one of the last CMP DCM Competion Bushmasters. Got a 1000 rounds through her. Love it when ya can shoot tighter groups with open sights @ 100yds than the guy next to ya with rest, scoped rifle, chrono and shot record book. (but some others can clean my clock with or without scopes)

| Senior Member | Nice outfit...and the best part is YOU like it, never underestimate the imprtance of that! My self I enjoy mt AR's very much and have many different makes. I have a PANTHER, Bushmaster, Olympic and an E.A. If I could figure out how to post images I would show them to you all. Needless to say I enjoy the AR very much. However to be fair I also have 4 M1A springfield rifles I love dearly. |

| Senior Member | Thank you! I get 1/2 to 3/4 groups @100 yds. It has an Eagle arms lower, Accutron upper with an Olympic SUM barrel which I have found to be among the best barrels for accuracy. I'm going to be changing to a CMT flat top and move the scope forward and add a set of Iron sights. I'm just waiting on the parts to get here!!! I haven't decided on the optics for this one yet. Any opinions. ![]() |
