More and more I see standard M4s and it makes me want to build a bone stock M4 with an A1 or A2 upper.

I would advise to build a flat top with a carry handle.... just in case you change your mind later down the road. It costs a little more, but not much. Another great option is the LaRue fixed rear sight. Return to zero removable with qd lever. Very solid...

wouldnt a true m4 be select fire? could someone tell me whats makes a ar-15 a m4?

In the AR-15 world an "m4" is in reference to the barrel profile with a step cut barrel w/ Carbine length gas system and hand guard. An "M4" AR-15 would also have a 6 position stock.

I just got a 2 new MEGA Gator lowers today. Put a DPMS kit in one and replaced the crap ass Olympic lower that was sitting under my bushmaster Hbar 1:7 barrel and upper. New pics to follow.
