| Lights & Laser accessories...? I'm looking to add a light/laser combo to my M4 style AR15. I found that most are upwards of $300-$400. But, if I look at buying 2 separate units (1 with the laser, the other with the light), it is only a total of about $150. Am I missing something? Is the increased cost due to just having a combo unit? Then... I found an NcStar Laser/Light Combo for $80, waaay below the price of any other COMBO unit I could find (less those designed for paintball units). Does anyone have experience with NcStar? How are their products? What are your suggestions on lights & lasers? Best to get combo, stand alone units, price range, etc...? Please keep in mind that this is only a unit I am getting for the fun of it, the propriety and in the off chance we have a SHTF scenario (of course batteries will last only so long). Thanks.

Nothing wrong with buying new toys for your AR. I have a krinker that I decked out with all that stuff, fun toy. My goto HD gun is a M640 with crimson trace laser grips, backup is a gold cup with laser grips and I have a light on the end of my HD shotgun. ![]() ![]() The light and laser on the krink came off e-bay, guy in hong cong, both for $50 shipped. So if they fail I can just toss them. ![]() This light is aTac Star, made in usa, another e-bay score, I think it was $25 new/used. Ultimate house clearing gun! ![]()

| Well if used properly with a momentary one pressure switch or with a "strobing" method they can be very helpful, Especially in dark places or even in lowlight areas. You need to see your target to be able to hit it. And for defensive situations it can make all the difference, Even in a lit urban area at night if you have back lighting silhouetting your target, causing everything within his body outline to be a dark shadow facing you, you may not be able to see what if anything is in his hands. Your own light usage can let you see the difference between an armed and unarmed target. Last edited by TACAV; 02-20-2008 at 09:51 PM. |
