Bump Fire

Anyone ever attempt to bump fire their AR? I did this weekend at the range and I have to tell you it was pretty neat but really just seems like a way to pile up empty casings. You can't hit much of anything when doing it and frankly as fun as it was with the high cost of ammo I don't plan on doing it very often!

I've done it with my AK, and SKS, but never with my AR. You're right. Ammo is way to expensive for me to waste.

Actual "Bump firing" is basically putting the weapon in an "uncontrolled" state where you mess with the normal cycling of the weapon through manipulation of the trigger.

I wouldn't recommend it because someone will put thier eye out eventually.

That said, it's kind of like learing about sex on the playground. So, here is one persons public published take on it.

I see it as ridiculous simply because it wastes ammo(which right now costs an arm and a leg). If you're rich and want to go cover an area the size of a house with lead, go ahead and knock yourself out. As for me, I will be happy shooting my rifles one bullet at a time.

I didn't use the method in the video. I held the gun in a normal fireing possition just not tight to my shoulder. I made sure to keep the gun pointed in a safe direction at all times.
