| Сергей Иванович Мосин ![]() | I clean my firearms every time I shoot them. It's a ritual kind of thing I guess you could call it. Sit back with a glass of sweet tea, put on the TV to ESPN or something and clean each weapon I had used that day. |

| You said a mouthfull, you do know next to nothing about AR's. Underpowered not really , compared to 7.62x51 sure compared to that rd. I have never had a FTF when using good ammo. Only when using cheap underpowered Wolf have I had maybe three or four FTF in a thousand rds. Still pretty good for cheap ammo. Last edited by Orlando; 04-27-2008 at 05:46 PM. |

| ferro. where do you get your info from? who's giving them this reputation you speak of? cause i've never ever heard one of my Marine's ever speak negatively about their M16/M4. like ghost raven said, 500 yards easy with iron sights. We qualify at the 500 yard line every year. With our ACOG's i would say maybe 650 or more, easy. We have 1 DM in the whole company. Only one Mark 11 for 4 plattoons. So yes we do have a designated marksman in our company. but the odds of him being anywhere in sight with his mark 11 are low. I just dont understand how you can say that they jam every three rounds. Or that they are unreliable. You think there gonna hand an unreliable weapon to the men that protect your freedom.

| yugo sir: i to have heard these rumors that ferro is talking about, mostly from the history channel, mostly in refrence to the vietnam war. and as for it not being underpowered, then why do i keep hearing storys where the troops are calling for a move to the 7.26x39... are these storys made up? i agree if the enemy is not wearing any body armour or behind any cover then a bullet is a bullet. also he prefaced his statement with "i know next to nothing about ar15s" so why are you acting so self-righteous?

| I have not witnessed the malfunctions that the "history channel" has talked about or that they jam every 3 rounds. I witnessed very few malfunctions and most were mag related. Mine was 100% reliable and I like Yugo have never heard a Marine complain about the M16 or the round being inadequate. Who is calling for the 7.62x39? That's just silly. Maybe some young guys who have been told that something is better by a news crew and has no clue? It also doesn't sound to me as if Yugo is being self-righteous. Sounds to me like he is giving you guys his personal experience. No rumors or TV show BS but real world experience.

| To be fair, my m-16 did jam once during my qualification in the Air Force. But, many of the rifles used didn't look to be in the best of shape.

| When the M16 was first issued in Vietnam there were issues as the soldiers were told they didn't need to clean trheir rifle. This lead to jambs , cleaning equipment was issued and most problems went away. Anyway his comment about jamming every 3 rds was on the AR15 not the M16 |

| Well seeing as I own the worlds most accurate AR ( man I gotta cut down on the crack ) I feel the need to weigh in here. The Jamming issues that occured were due to a politically motivated and financialy motivated powder issue. Atleast that is what I heard....when the contract came through for powder one of the big companies had produced a powder that was extremely dirty and the manufacturer said this is going to cause the gun to jam but as always money talks and commion sense was booted out the door & no one listened. Now this is a story I heard & I have no way of knowing if it is true but it seems believable. I do know that the last statistic I heard was that 80% of all mob hits are done with a .22 That being said the idea of being hit with either a 22 or 223 just does not sound like fun to me. Yes there are all kinds of variables to that statistic such as closeness and armor....but it is just a statistic. Like the man in the cable commercial sais....90% of all statistics can be made to say anything you want.....50% of the time. I am not wanting to start a arguement or anything this is just what I heard. Maybe someone can show me a new light.
