Cool Stag or RRA

I am about to purchase my first AR 15 I beleive I have narrowed my choices down to Stag or RRA I know I want an M4 style 16" barrel and colapisable stock and a flat top receiver. ibeleive these two manufactures offer the most bang for my dollar. All advice would be appreciaated!

I have a RRA and love it no complaints. I am sure Stag also has great AR's I don't know what Stags times are for delivery but RRA is a little backed up on orders right now so if you are going to have your dealer order something from them expect to wait.

I'd take either one. But RRA has much more in the way of choices.....

I'm a Stag fan, myself... but in fairness, I'm not too familiar with RRA, and the one who said earlier that Stag doesn't offer a lot of variety, well that's true. But they do quite well with what they do offer.

I'd go with Stag Personally, but that's just a matter of opinion... Both are excellent companies...

I believe both are of equal quality, and it will basically come down to personal preference. One thing I'd look at if you're getting a collapsible stock is what tube they use. I know RRA uses a commercial spec tube, but I'm not sure what Stag uses. If they use mil-spec tubes, I'd get that as it's supposedly a little better. Otherwise, go with whoever has the package you want at the price you can pay.

If you order from RRA, prepare to wait... they're backlogged. Check out AR15 Sales. He sells both brands and is a great guy.

Stag's all mil-spec, by my understanding.

I was told RRA was backed up back when I was looking into them in early 08 but I got mine in a week, so it may depend. Not a single complaint about my RRA, its a 16" HBAR, collapsable stock and flat top. Shoots great, not a single jam, FTF or anything like that. Stag is also a great manufacturer. I always thought they're claim to fame was their left-handed ARs, but i've learned many right handed shooters love them as well. Either will be an excellent choice.

Maybe this will help you... here's my Stag.

I went with the 20" barrel on this one for a longer look. Lupy red reticle tactical scope (awesome).

I have both and I like my Stag more because of the fit and finish, but my RRA is without a doubt more accurate. I sold my DPMS to get the RRA and I really like my RRA, actually I am not sure why I like the Stag more, I just do. The Stag has a better feel to it and has little things like staked gas keys and mil spec everything. The RRA isn't even close to Mil spec and doesn't have staked gas keys.

Stag is Military contract, and from personal experience with both manufacturers, Stag is superior on all fronts. I'd go CMMG, or LMT personally.

Stag, but then I'm biased. lol

Also, seeing as how they made, not sure if they still do or not, most of the parts for the rest, may as well go direct to the source then?

Both on DPMS lowers with RRA two stage triggers and CMMG LPKs. I just got an EO Tech for the Stag and the RRA has a new Aimpoint. Both have Vltor stock and GG&G BUIS. I am a creature of habit, especially when I get good results, why change. Practically same exact lowers I built at different times, again creature of habit.

My mil spec Stag

My match inspired RRA

Thanks for all the advice. Went with the STAG 16" barrel, flattop, folddown rear sight, adjustable stock and quadrail. Planning to season the barrel on Independence Day. I thought that to be a fitting way to celebrate! Maybe I can get my wife to post some pic's of the STAG soon.

Mooreville - sure it's just down the road. Do you shoot at a range or on private land?
