NOBAMA should i sell my AR :(

I live in portland oregon. I recently called the dealer that i bought my AR from it is a bushmaster A2 upper. He told me the ban will happen for sure. bullets for the guns being banned will have a 500 % tax increase he told me i would pay 53.00 for a box of 20. I also a small problem with money right now meaning, i cant go buy thousands of rounds. Should i sell, i could trade straight across for a saiga 12 or i will sell on outdoors trader.

Although I'm not thinking the future will be rosy and or pretty. I do believe that unless your dealer has some sort of crystal ball, I'd wait it out.
Energy is better expended writing the congress critters and supporting national and local gun advocate groups than dumping our gear needlessly on the battle filed.
Stick to your guns (no pun intended)

what about if the dealers have to remove the rifles off the shelf and i cant trade it in. considering they do get banned. i just dont want to be stuck with something this valuable when there are so many other pieces out there.

If the government takes our means to defend ourselves from totalitorianship,(dictatorship)we are finished anyway.I say keep our firearms.Maybe it will deter them, but if it doesn't,at least I have something to fight with.If I just turn them in,the government definitly will control me.If they put special taxes on ammo there will be a very large black market on it. sam.

If obama does win his little game i just cant see myself paying that much money for something like ammunition that would not ven fill up the mag. Do u want to pay 53.00 in the portland oregon area per mag.?

For me i do not feel like i am giving obama what he wants, by turning in my AR im just looking at the other options. Prices will skyrocket up before they go down i could take advantage of the situation and sell the rifle for a really great deal. there are many guns ive had my eye on i just chose the AR for it bada**ness

I have in the past paid $0.74 for a gallon of gas and would never have dreamed of paying $5.00 per gallon but I did. IF ammo goes up like that (I doubt it will) I'll pay the asking price.

If another AWB goes through , values of those weapons again will increase.
You will still be able to keep the rifle , like we all did during the Clinton Ban.
Best thing to do is buy ammo that you can afford now and stockpile 1000 rounds or More. Then you may want to consider reloading like a lot of us do.
The other thing is a 500% TAX increase will NOT make a box of ammo go that high...If the Tax is 1 dollar a box now , it will only be $5.00 a box Tax.
Somebody has the Math WRONG !!! ( 1X 500% = 5.00 !)

bann on ar's

there are not enough police to protect the u.s. now why would you give up your guns of any type! so you have no way to keep intruders out. I feel that the gov has a lot of nerve to even think of taking our guns how about we take there guns instead how easy do you think that would work! AS SAID BEFOR WHEN GUNS ARE OUTLAWED ONLY OUTLAWS WILL HAVE THEM and the public gets screwed by the goverment again

I've read your post a couple times and my brain is still trying to digest it.

1. Portland.....ok, I won't go into what people in the southern part of the state think about Portland...

2. So he's going to retire now right? I mean he must of bought about 1,000 AR's and made a huge profit right, being able to see the future and all.

3. See above regarding ammo prices. .223 is a deer hunting round in Oregon, you knew that right? It's not just an "AR" caliber.
  • Browning A-Bolt II Stainless Stalker (bolt; .223, .243)
  • Kimber 84M LongMaster Classic (bolt; .223)
  • Kimber 84M SVT (bolt; .223)
  • Remington Model 700 LV SF Light Varmint (bolt; .223, .22-250)
  • Remington Model 799 (bolt; .22 Hornet, .222, .223, .22-250)
  • Ruger Model 77R Mk. II (bolt; .223, .22-250, .220, .243, 6mm)
  • Savage Model 10 Predator Hunter (bolt; .204, .223, .22-250, .243)
  • Weatherby Mark V Special Varmint Rifle (bolt; .223, .22-250)
  • Weatherby Vanguard Stainless (bolt; .223, .22-250, .243)
4. Did he offer to buy it back from you at a discount or are you just thinking of selling it?

5. If you buy a Saiga won't the ammo go up on that also, percentage wise? (according to the clairvoyant anyway)

I would like to know what u think about portland? If you are trying to make me look dumb u need to stop. all i am doing is asking these questions for my own benefits. i do know a 223 caliber bullet is a hunting round i am just wanting to sell it not for a discount. shotgun bullets are real cheap where i live 25.00 can get me like 150 rounds for your number 2.

2. You dont need to be sarcastic i have respect for what my dealer says.

I also personnaly think obama will ban the guns and i imagine bullets will go up in price. i guess im just looking for something a little cheaper to shoot....like a shotgun, but im in no way saying id trade my AR for a shotgun. i have previously owned a ak 47 in the past and i like the thought of a 12 guage ak semi auto too.

Keep your AR and slowly build a stockpile of mags and ammo for it.

Your AR will be grandfathered in like all the other AR's from the first AWB. I was also wondering what would happen if the stores had a stockpile of ARs on the shelf when it goes through. I doubt they will pull them. I can see the store extending a line of credit to an employee/owner and then moving them to consignment. Thats what i would do.

if they wanted to take all our rights from the second amendment away from us, you can bet that all gun owners/people that like to shoot will stand up and say something.

im just going with the idea of they take my guns, i start taking lives!

keep your gun, and dont worry about it!

I would vote to keep your AR, but it is yours to do as you wish. I really like the Saigas for PD or HD. They are relatively easy to clean, and built solid.
