Anyone have a problem with stag cartridge ejections?

Hey everyone,

My father recently purchased a stag arms upper receiver left handed for his colt ar 15 lower, we put it together and it makes a pretty darn decent firearm (especially since were both left handed and stag makes the only true left handed ar 15's)

We took it out to the pit and were firing some federal ammo, and it kept ejecting no less than a foot from where the shooter was standing. I mean it truly wasn’t a problem since we reload and having to pick up reloads can be a pain when their strolled everywhere. So my question to everyone is does this happen to anyone else? And can anyone say possibly what the cause of this is? And yes we've tried several different brands of ammo even reloads.

Yeah, mine doesn't seem to eject the rounds very far either. I've never had any problems with reliability however so I guess it doesn't really hurt anything. It must have something to do with the left side ejection.

Yea and plus because of the cost of 5.56 these days ejecting not too far from where i'm standing actually seems to help me especially finding cartridges.

Is this new? Did you THOROUGHLY clean the gun, including any gas ports? Get a pipe cleaner and go through everything, they put gunk in every crevice on these things.

What boggles my mind is the pretty brass people leave at the ranges!! 90% of it is .223 or 5.56 too. I've been tempted to pick it up and sell it!!!

Do it. There's people buying that stuff on Gun Broker all the time. Once fired LC brass is worth your time picking up. And if you find any 6.8 SPC cases, let me know, I'll pay you for them.

Though this threads a tad old, I'd be curious to know if maybe part of the problem could be you put a left handed upper on a right handed lower?

I'd also have to ask this. Did you buy a complete upper? If not, did you put a right handed bolt and bolt carrier in it? That would definitely explain why it's only ejecting about a foot.

my buddy has a complete stag and when he shoots it all the brass kinda bounces off the side of the lane he's in and lands right under the barrel or right next to his arm ( yes he has had some hot brass hit him lol ), they eject about the 1:30, 2 O'clock but i think his gun over gassed and thats why it ejects that way

The extractor spring well effect the distance the brass travels. Some extractors well have a rubber O ring, some even have two springs.

The buffer weight and buffer spring rate also have a big effect on were the brass goes.
