Going to buy my first AR10

Well guys,I'm going to take a break from mil-surp rifles and get an ArmaLite
AR10 like this one:

EAGLE ARMS AR10A4 CARBINE WITH BLACK FURNITURE

What are your guys thoughts, opinions, advice on it?
This will be my first "Black Rifle" and I feel that I've made a good choice. But I always like to get feed back from other members as I have come to trust your judgment and and honest opinions.
Thanks in advance,
Jason M

I could provide you with the address of my FFL. You could get 2 of them and forward one to my FFL, and I would have a wonderful 4th of July, and I would always speak well of you Jason.

Are you aware that the Warranty on the EAGLE ARMS version is only ONE YEAR, wheareas the Warranty on the ARMALITE version is Lifetime?

You save $275 by buying the Eagle Arms version, BUT it is NOT the same gun as the ARMALITE version.

Personally, I found that the peace of mind was worth the extra money.

Buy an ARMALITE AR10. You will not regret it.

^ What he said. If you're buying new, you might as well shell out a few extra bucks for a company with a solid warranty and a long history of quality craftsmanship.

Congrats on your decision to take the plunge into an AR10.

But I have to and do completely agree with the what Ten man said in his post.

Another way to lok at it is like this. You go buy a new TV, they offer you an extended warranty. Usually around $129.99 or $149.99 or $189.99 for another 2 year extended warranty. So, for about double that, your getting a lifetime warranty.

So, if you're going to take the plunge, take and do it right...

I've had the AR 10 in target barrel, 10B, and chopped with scope rail mount from Armalite. My first AR 10 WAS an Eagle Arms version which was earlier than the Armalite version--I had no problems with it either.

They are all extremely accurate! The heavy target barrel version was easy to shoot over sandbags on the ground getting under MOA with a Nikon Monarch variable that went up to 20 X.

I don't have any of the AR 10s anymore, last one was in 2002 or so and I let them go in favor of the M1-A--which is not easily scoped and doesn't shoot as tight as an AR 10.

My feeling after shooting them (and they all functioned perfectly) was they were rather bulky/weighty compared to an M1-A and since I wasn't a target nut with the 7.62 NATO round the Springfields pushed them out.

I do like the AR 15 and compared to that the AR 10 is rather hefty. Perhaps that is part of what clouded my judgment in not keeping them.

But they are the most accurate auto 7.62s available!

Jason I don't know what price your local FFL would make you on the Eagle Arms carbine, but 1 of my local FFLs is only 50 buck or so higher for some of the Armalite AR10 carbines than the price on the webpage you posted.

Just plug in the mfg. and the caliber in the search box

Thanks for all the input guys,as always you give great advice.
I'm probably going to use it as my new coyote gun as it is a little more versatile and has a great reputation.
I've noticed that a lot of guys are moving towards the AR platform for their hunting rifle.
What's your guys take on this?

My armalite ar10b has taken several deer . Ive always taken mine one shot , but my son took his first deer with it and needed a second shot . You wont find a better second shot gun as it's just a trigger pull away.

I got the fever for the Armalite AR10B about 10 years ago. Liked the looks of the brown furniture and the cocking handle on top. I ordered mine with the two-stage trigger. It came in about a month later. I remember strolling in the door of the gunshop, with $500 cash in my pocket , and $1200 in my checking account.

Errr.....it wasn't enough. Had to put it on my Mastercard. $1892 dollars. But I really like it, and it is a for-real shooter. No regrets.

Since you are looking for a nice step above a 223 consider an AR50. You won't regret having enough power to reach out. Yeah it is single shot but it is just a flick of the bolt and stuffing in another round. What a blast shooting a real gun rather a ww2 reject caliber.
