Ive been looking at getting this thing for $900. It has a suburu justy engine with push button 4x4 which sounds pretty cool for off road. Do you guys think I should get it?

such as wear and tear on all parts of the vehicle, actual condition of engine, how substantial are the drive and suspension components, and so on and on and on . . . .

I would stay away from it.

Craigslist more and more makes me uneasy and it is not just due to the controversy over the sex for sale ads.

It did sound cool at the start but I think im leaning more towards the 2006 yamaha blaster.

Can you copy and paste the guts of the ad here so we can see any other stats on it? It sure looks like a decent deal to me. What will it be used for? Simple trail riding, rock crawling, or just trolling around? Do you have a triler to haul it with or would that be another investment that would be needed for it?

Yeah....you can sell sex on there but not firearms/ammo....go figure...

The blue one looks a lot like the ones I used to build way back when. Put a Corvair engine in one but couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground.

Haha! I hear ya. I had an 1835DP type 1 in it with a big Dellorto 40 and could pull the front end up a few inches. I won't say that I couldn't keep the front end down, but it sure would scoot through the sand or desert quick! With a bigger cam it would have been insane, but I never did get around to putting a bigger one in. Now I have a '66 baja bug with a 1600SP in it while I rebuild another 1835DP I got. This one was seized when I got it, but I am building it back up the right way. It will take a while though as funds are super limited. Anyways, sorry to hijack.

I ended up getting it and it was totally worth it. I wouldnt have gotten it if it was just cheap and thrown together but it was made well and everything is in working order.

My brother owns this sand rail. Due to a back operation, I believe he's about ready to sell this one. He took this one to the Little Sahara State Park near Wynoka, Oklahoma for several season. I spent one weekend with him riding that rail up and down dunes, and it had more power than most people could imagine.

Unfortunately, the day before we returned home I borrowed my nephew's wife's quad and turned it over, causing my right rotator cuff to be completely torn, and one tendon in my right bicep snapped in two. That was my last trip there, but he's taken it several times since then.

I believe everything is working on the rail...except he's recently been having trouble with one cylinder misfiring. That problem may be left to whomever buys it, if he decides to sell.

Anyone wanting to make contact with him I would be glad to help you do that. He lives in Hillsboro, KS. Just contact me for more info if you think you might be interested.

Looks like a simple, short, fun little rail Ox. Fairly similar to my old one as well with its short wheelbase and fairly stock configuration. Do you know what size motor he has in it? That was why I loved my little car so much. That 1835DP is really not a big motor but sure pushes a small lightweight car around well even at only about 85 horsepower or so!

I believe my brothers rail has a highly modified VW motor installed...He's been talking about switching to a Corvair engine.

GlockMeister...I drove it only once...on a grassy meadow behind his home. Quicker than I could imagine the thing stood straight up on it's back tires...and shyte...all I could do was let it crash back down...causing it's tie rods to bend. He had this happen before so we took it to his shop and in no time it was back ready for more action.
