| Military Rifle Collector ![]() | I love my Beretta 92. It just feels right in my hand. I have never owned a glock. I did not get the tritium sights so I bought some glow in the dark paint at Sportsmans Guide and that works pretty good on the sights.

| Registered User | Here's the benefit I see to having the safety. If I'm carrying my weapon on me for the day, I can leave the safety off so I can draw and fire if it's ever needed. I still then have the option of leaving the safety on when the gun is in a nightstand drawer in the dark of the night. I've practiced taking the safety off in the dark quite a bit. Having a weapon with a safety gives me the option of using it either way. I don't get that option with a Glock, XD, etc. I also find the Glock/XD style trigger uncomfortable to shoot, especially 100s of rounds of target shooting. |

| Military Rifle Collector ![]() | I like the S&W 681 (or 686) and the Baretta 92. I had a Glock in this pic but it blowed right up and left them lil black spots. ![]()

| Registered User | I tried both and decided on the Beretta. Didn't like the Glock at all - I have smallish hands and didn't like the harder recoil on it. Felt more accurate with the Beretta. I can re-aim and fire again more quickly because the gun isn't back behind my head I shoot much better with the Beretta too - with the Glock all my shots were off to the left... but it was a rental gun so it could have been wonky. Anyway so, I bought the Beretta 92FS - figured if it's good enough for the best military in the world, it's good enough for me |

I think you made a wise choice. You wont disappointed with a Beretta. Just look at there record: The Army just sign a new contact for over 25,000 new M9's this year. The proof is in writing: "The Ultimate Pistol. Each Beretta 92FS must pass a battery of more then 3,000 quality control check and measure that includes complete interchangeability of parts before leaving the factory... and proven in the field in countless defensive confrontations, the 92FS is in all respects the “ultimate”. A legendary Firearm. The most tested and trusted personal defense weapon in history. The 92FS, designated M9 by the U.S. Military, not only meets or exceeds all U.S. Military testing guidelines, it totally rewrites them. Beretta U.S.A. Reliability and Durability Statistics for the Beretta 9mm Pistol. • The average reliability of all M9 pistols tested at Beretta U.S.A. is 17,500 rounds without a stoppage. • During one test of twelve pistols fired at Beretta U.S.A. before Army supervision, Beretta-made M9 pistols shot 168,000 rounds without a single malfunction. • The Beretta 9mm pistol was the most reliable of all pistols tested in the 1984 competition which resulted in the award of the M9 contract to Beretta. • Two-thirds of all M9 pistols endurance tested at Beretta U.S.A. fired 5,000 rounds without a single malfunction or, at most, with only one malfunction. • The average durability of Beretta M9 slides is over 35,000 rounds, the point at which U.S. Army testing ceases. • The average durability of M9 frames is over 30,000 rounds. The average durability of M9 locking blocks is 22,000 rounds. Precise, Safe, Reliable. 92 Series Pistols are semi-automatics and operate on the short recoil, delayed locking block system, which yields a faster cycle time and delivers exceptional accuracy and reliability. Each features a lightweight, forged frame made form aircraft-quality aluminum alloy, with a open top frame which makes jamming almost impossible. On FS models, the manual safety also functions as a decocking lever. A firing pin block secures the firing pin." __________________

| Registered User | I have to agree with the entire posting just in front of my reply. I've owned some Glocks over the years trying to see what the hype is, and I just can't stand them. The 92FS feels natural in my hand, and outshoots anything else I've ever tried. My primary ccw in fact is a 92FS and I'm 100% confident in it. |

| Сергей Иванович Мосин ![]() | Well if I had my choice, I'd not even choose either of these. I'd go with a 1911A1 .45 clone, but if I had to get a 9MM it'd be a Glock, SigSauer, or Springfield XD hands down. Something about the older 92s and their problems with the slide blowing back and injuring the user just... scares me (even if they HAVE fixed that problem... I still don't trust em). |

+1 get the CZ75. Unfortunately mine broke the slide release/ take-down lever at just over 18,000 rounds Which now sounds average to me if that's what can be expected of the Berrettas. | |

| Senior Member | Well I guess to each his own. I carry a Glock 23 in 40, Sig 226 in 9mm, and RIA in 45 acp. I can shoot all pretty good. To qualify I use the sig. I carry a sidearm on a daily basis as part of my job. MIke

| Senior Member | I've got a Beretta 92/96 Combo I purchased several years ago. I tend to be kind of ambivalent towards it. I like the excellent craftmanship and it's very reliable. I also like being able to switch from .40 to 9mm in a flash. The size is the main reason I just can't love it. It's borderline too big for my hands and not really carry friendly (then again it wasn't designed to be). As ashamed as I am to admit it, I've never once fired a glock. I've come close to buying one several times, but always find something I like just a little better. I'm thinking either a Glock 34 or 17L is in my near future, though (unless I end up deciding on a new XD(M). In general, I tend to prefer the 1911's above the polymer pistols just because they seem to fit my hand better, especially in a .45. I owned a H&K USP in .45 and as amazingly reliable as it was, it was a real handfull (literally). |

The PX-4 9mm is great, a few people on the Beretta forum have had a few problems with "trigger sting" on the .40 S&W. But they have been few and far between. Beretta's customer service has been great with taking care of what few problems some people have had with them. You might want to consider the Beretta 9000 S. I own a Beretta 92FS and a Beretta 9000 S 9mm. The Beretta 9000 is the very first polymer hand gun Beretta has ever made and mine has been flawless. Beretta has stopped making them, (I think Stoeger is going to start making them, which is a branch of the Beretta company). If you can find one at a gun show or dealer you can get one fairly cheap now, around $300. And it might be a collectors item someday. I have a picture of one on my profile.
