Better 92FS trigger and barrel, steel guide?

Anyone know of a trigger kit for this gun? Or should I just bring it to my smith and have him massage it? I use it mostly for pin shoots and centerfire bullseye

Also can anyone recommend one of the upgrade barrels or makers out there? Pistol functions flawlessly too now, so any new bbl. would have to stay that way too--but this is not as high a priority until I get the trigger done.

Finally, mine is a US gun with the plastic (I think) recoil rod, anyone know if the steel ones are a drop in? Maybe just source it from Beretta?

I have had 9 Berettas over the years, currently having a 96. The metal guide rods are drop in, unless you have the compact slide. I have a metal rod currently, upgrading from the plastic one. It is easy and nothing to it. I have had two styles up to this point. One is a solid rod the same design as the plastic, only metal. The other has a buffer built into the rod, and the rod uses a washer looking piece that fits into the slide and the sping loaded rod then is fixed into place as usual. These rods are also metal but rather thin at some points. I would expect these to perhaps bend and fail at some future point, but that never happened while I used it. I should add that the thinner rod was used in a 92F, and was fine.

As for barrels, I have changed out these enough times to lose track of the number. I have used the Firedragon barrels, which cost too damn much for a Beretta, and the lonewolf barrels. Also, the Beretta barrels supplied thru their US website work good too. The best bang for your buck will be lonewolf barrels, unless you find one for sale on gunbroker. If you want a stainless barrel to match an INOX slide, go with beretta barrels or lonewolf. The Firedragon barrels are really polished and do not make a good match, although the quality is good.

Aftermarket magazines are a problem sometimes with the Beretta 92. Try like hell to skip on the cheap mags from Eagle. The cost at CDNN Investments is under $7 per mag, which led me to buying 30. They do work, but the springs are weak and the mag plate is reeally cheap plastic. Get used LEO trade ins for around the same price and your money will be better spent.

Keep in mind that while the 92fs is pretty accurate for a fighting pistol, it was never intended to be a tack-driver. Of course that did not stop me from putting LPA sights on mine.

Is there some advantage to replacing the factory, nylon guide rod with steel?
