Bersa 380 cc; sticky safety/decock lever

I just got a brand new 380 cc for my wife based on everyone's glowing reports of the Bersa 380's! She hasen't even tried it out yet.
But we're having one problem with it.
The safety lever is REALLY hard to move. There's NO way to move it with your thumb. Tried it with the slide is open it moves a little easier but is still very stiff. I greased it some and that didn't help very much.
This is my wife's gun and she likes the piece of mind of using a safety lever.
Any ideas?

best safety in the world is an empty chamber.... if that is not an option, take slide off, flip it over and try to function safety and see if it is hanging up on something... and welcoime to G&G
