anyone considered a FAL with a m-203 mounted? Granted the 203 only gives you one shance, but if the grenade fails, you have 20 rounds of .308, or some monstrosity BRG can manage to run through a FAL, probably somewhere between .458 and .50. BRG, if you make one, make another and send it to me, for um, testing, yeah, thats it. Along with a bill for how much you want for it.

I'd go with a Benelli M4 loaded with Federal 2 -3/4 inch solid copper X slug. Collapsable stock, 18.5 inch barrel, and AO ghost ring sights. Well, while I'm dreaming, how 'bout a Wesley-Richards double rifle in .577 Nitro Express shooting 750 gr. Woodleigh soft points? Last edited by Copper; 12-03-2005 at 12:33 AM. |

Who says hunting with FMJ is illegal I do it all the time in on private property, but then again I live in Texas and not California. I am sorry but your state has to go, its so darn restictive.

Rugged, 125 gr's for bear? Please...... The 125's will do one of two things. Either they will lodge in the skin/fat layer and not penetrate into muscle, or they will richocet off the skull, either way, enraging an already mad and determined killing machine. If confronted by a charging 1500 pound bear, most likely, most people would be pumping last nights supper into the seat of their Levi's as opposed to pumping bullets. Semi auto for Bear? Most likely, the round which would serve that purpose best would be the .50 Beowulf as it is already a production gun of proven energy. It is a full .500 caliber bullet of 400 grains loaded to 1800 fps from a basic AR-15 frame. Marines in Irak can testify to what it will do. Think of a semi-auto .50-70. http://www.gunblast.com/50Beowulf.htm Alaska Fish and Game, guides, and hunters for years have established minimum standards for cartridges which are adequate for bear. The reason people get eaten by bears is from debating the already proven experience. Bill |

I voted with the majority ,Har,but since I live in Alaska in unit 13 which has more Grizzlies than people I have to add my 2 cents worth. The Bar in .338 would be the best choice if thats ALL you could get. My first 7 ft. Grizz was taken at 30 yards with a 30/06 Remington 742 autoloader...The bullet hit him 3 inches high right between the eyes and he went down in a pile so fast that the second round creased his hide across his back. His skull Exploded!!! I disagree with those that say bullets "Bounce off " the skull...Never seen a bullet bounce but have seen a close shot just high enough to split the scalp and make him mad !I had the autoloader malfunction with Bad factory Remington ammo as a Blackie was charging so i shot him with my .45 auto. I now use a model 70 Winchester in .300 WM 180gr. Nosler for grizz, Moose, Buffalo, Caribou...One shot,One Kill ! In Thick brush I will go in with a 45-70 with 405 gr.flat nose just for punch ! Moose seem to be tougher...took 14 rounds of 30/06 in the breadbasket, neck and head to kill my first one, Kept knocking him down and he kept getting up ! I've never lived it down from my hunting buddies ! They use .338,.300 H+H ! We 've killed a lot of bears !:right:

Shaun, That will do nicely if you place the Bullet where it needs to be! I carry A Redhawk .44 with solids if the rifle fails...5 rounds for the bear and 1 for me !
