| A nice pig I got (Photos just been given to me)
I lost all my digital photos a while back when a virus crashed my computer but a mate of mine had heaps from our pig hunting trips so I thought I might post one or two of my favourites. This is a nice pig that I caught having a nap in a wallow that was woken to the sound of SG buckshot travelling at a great rate of knots from 10m. |

Feral pigs are a problem in Australia Sks. From what I understand they were introduced a while back, and have effected the ecosystem in a negative way.

there was some flooding awhile back near my area and a farmers pigs got loose and went feral. for whatever reason this went unknown for a year or so. well these bad boys populated like crazy. it took years of "open season" on them to get them under control. those pigs destroyed a lot of acreage in those couple years.

I am impressed that you were able to stalk to within 10m of it. Good job bagging the beast!

Not really, as it was very dry and I saw some fresh wallows there the day before while mustering cattle on a bike. As we drove about 200m past it on a track I mentioned that, and said in passing that as it was the hottest part of the day (47 degrees) that they would be in there and that I couldn’t blame them one bit. He said that he had the gun behind the seat if I wanted a crack at em as he could use some dog feed. So I got out made my way 100m down wind and stalked in, when I got to the billabong I crept over the lip and there were 3 of them asleep in the wallows, I lined up the biggest one and nailed it while it was sleeping. |
