| Banned | Barrel length isn't everything Barrel length isn't everything. With the right ammo, a 18.5" barrel is just as accurate as 24" barrel. I have a Ruger compact in .308 and shoot .5" MOA all the time with winchester silver tips. I have won many a bet with the nail driver. |

| Senior Member | Optimal barrel length is what is important You want the optimal barrel length for your caliber and propellant in any given caliber mated to a proper contour of the barrel. Although it is too much for any post a little research will reveal a great deal of work has been done in this area. You might start off with the handloading magazines and progress to more detailed written material. |
