Talking

There seems to be a food chain for everything. Man, with a proper gun, is ahead of the bear.

OMG, what a beautiful bear. I would rather have had pictures of him alive than to have shot him.Although, with him gone the bear population will increase as more cubs will make it to maturity. Its just that he was such an outstanding specimen. Thanks Rich for the pics. and the story.

I think the comment was that the .270 has taken every game animal on North America. Which I understand is true.

I don't remember him saying it was always the wisest choice.

Personally I would choose a .50 BMG for a grizzly, or any bear for that matter, yepper...fer sure!

+1!

That's an outstanding article. Talk about something to justify a house with a large living room...

"Honey, we need to move."
"Why?!"
"The taxidermist said my trophy won't fit in this house."

That is one heck of a way to shag carpet a living room (Wall to Wall).

Magnificent bear. Mixed emotions on the killing of it. Especially since it was trophy only. I have had bear meat and it is very good with a slightly sweet flavor. Well black bear anyway. That one would probably have been a tough chew.

Many of men would have cut that hide in half,
ya got give that Pomazi fella some kudos. That bear being 12-14 years old, i don't think he had many more years left in him. Is that what the guide does, shoots also? I can understand about not letting the big boy get and go. Three shots WOOOOOO WEEEE.
Thanks for the article mooseman.

bigger bear killed lsat yr.

Mooseman :
Have you heard anything about the bear killed last yr. by the Forest Range. Ranger shot the bear 12 times W/7mm Rem mag ,also had three 38 slugs in him, Bear was tracking the RANGER . It was said that Bear had kill one or two hickers ,they back tracked and found the 38 pistol & some human remains
Bear was to mounted and shown at the Anchorage airport as largest brown bear taken about 14`tall ???

Yes , we heard about it...there are some conflicting stories about it...It is NOT the same bear as at the airport that I know of. That bear has been there for years ! He is Huge !
