oh i dont know AH, there's gotta be guys out there that can make that shot. i certainly aint one of em though. you wouldn't say that about a military guy taking and making that shot. maybe he was good enough that he could take a shot like that with confidence.

With the proper set up, it CAN be done. However, I sure as hell am not going to condone such activity, I feel that it is merely for "bragging rights", and is borderline unethical. There is a point where it's no longer "hunting", and it becomes the same as long range "shooting"

Wether it was real or not, lucky or expertese, I wish I could practice at those distances. It would be hard, but fun!

You guys didn't see the string? They had tied to that thing? After the guy with the video camera got it focused, the guy shot the gun off, and another other guy pulled the string so the deer would fall over after the shot so it looked like the deer was shot from 950 yds. LMAO JK

I concur. If it was indeed real, that was one hell of a shot.

I have made some long shots myself, but that looked pretty far.How can you tell from a video without some input to back it up.Could be.Source has some credibility.Still debatable.

Just reviewed the other videos,I think this thread is NG.I was intrigued until I saw what we`re watching.Didn`t reconize it at first!I1m outta here!

Whats a 338 edge? I've heard of 338 win mag, ultra mag but not a edge.
And I agree thats a hell of a shot, wish I could shoot like that. But I still dont think I would take a shot that long its more for bragging rights.

I agree. There are people who can shoot that straight that far. Me can not do it at this time. The whole video just don't seem right. At 950 with a camera on the thing with a lens big enough to catch that? Please.

Ditto, be it a real shot or not there is a certain amount, actually ALOT of morality and ethics involved. Noone I guide ever takes long shots and i tell them, if you cant hump and cant stalk you cant hunt with me.

Is it just me, or did that deer react really quickly for a shot that long? I know bullets travel fast, but wouldn't it take longer then 1.5 seconds to get there?

i found this while trying to find out if it is fake or not.

These guys are famous for trying to sell their custom rifles if I remember correctly...
You have to remember they are shooting special custom rifles that have custom triggers, glass beds and specialized scopes designed for long distance shooting with a 1000 m reticle. These guys also are shooting custom handloaded ammo that they have tuned into their rifle, and they've shot thousands of rounds to practice 600-1000 yd shots.
BUT i do wonder if that deer got up and ran off.
if it did it had a half hour headstart.

i wouldnt take that shot but i sure wish i had the gun and skill to do it!

A .338 Edge is a 300 RUM necked up to .338. They say that it can take more powder than the .338 ultra. As far as having enough energy to do the job of killing the animal at that distance I would say it would have more than enough. I read that the 300 win mag with a 200gr bullet has more energy at 1000 meters than a factory 240gr .44 mag at point blank. So I imagine that the round that they were firing had what it took to do the job. Those guys were also using a modified camera tripod mounted to the rifle. I have seen other long shots made by them on youtube. The scope that they used was a Horus Vision optics. The reticle is set up for long range shooting and has a range finder built into the reticle. The scope package also includes a Kestrel weather monitor and a palm pilot that has their ballistic software that will tell you exactly where to hold over with the reticle.

Here is the website if you are interested in it. They have a little game that you can play where you range the targets and hold over and shoot at to show you how easy the reticle is to use.
Horus Vision - System 5

I saw that they have a hunter version of the scope that doesn't come with the palm pilot and weather meter advertised in Rifle magazine for $399.00 reg price is over $500.00. Would be interesting to look at one in person just to see the clarity and craftsmanship.
