My opinion is I can fly . . . . . . . however, I have a hard time backing up my opinion on that one, so this is the only time I will mention it.

Sounds like someone is scared of recoil to me! My 223 has 0 recoil if pointed at a animal - 270 has no recoil if pointed at a animal - 45-70 has no recoil if pointed at a animal. O.K. i've never fired a 416 but I think I'd be happy to have it for cape buffalo. However a bow is the way to go in noth america!! One of these days I may be able to hunt in Africa and if I won't listen to my guide what good is he?
Phil i'm not sure it's the body fat on a buff as just a big mean capable character. I have nothiced here N.A. that predators seem to hit the dirt quick and grazers tend to cover a little territory before they colapse.
Good hunting and enjoy doning whatever you do,

More than one way to skin a cat. Your way isn't necessarily going to be better than anybody else's way. People are going to do what they're familiar with as long as it works on the animals they shoot on a regular basis.

Bull shit Phil, everyone is entitled to their opinion rather you like that opinion or not. Tell ya what, I'll stay out of your threads about Africa since I have no experience there and my opinion is not worth mentioning.

If you (as in everyone) cannot defend the cartridge you are using or recommending in a debate, I have no respect for that cartridge . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and neither should you.

However, never fear. I will not bore you with further tales of (the big bad wolf here for many) recoil, as I know a good many here think that if they shoot something here that has more recoil that a popcorn fa_t they will instantly be handicapped for the rest of their lives, and such murderous recoil surely will crumble freeway overpasses and down telephone poles as well.

Tell you what, start a thread that states ~ shooting adequate cartridges with heavy recoil is most likely the cause of global warming !

Then all you sensitive hunters will be saved by not ever having to shoot a relevant cartridge, thus helping save the world ! Brilliant !

To a few posters here, I say Bravo to you ! you did your best, but too many amateurs here "without a set".

But I am expecting a few cheers, there are at least 15 Buffalo, 1 Elephant, 5 Lions and 5 Leopards (and an unknown number of pretty bad snakes) that will get a change to remove me from this site permanently, if the clients don't shoot straight, or I don't later during the follow up if any.

O.K. I'm changeing to the 500 Asquare, Phil I want a gold star for that. Seriously, if going D/G hunting in Africa take something stupid big. Considering the cost of a Safari, a new cannon is not a concern. For stickly off hand shooting recoil should not be a problem.

I should quallify that last post. If buying a new gun plan on a few hundred rounds of practice/shakedown before the trip.

Not me mag. my problem with RonAKA was that his opinion was the only one that counted and i for one think that everybody's opinion should be listened to and given the respect that it deserves and that is even if you don't agree with it, don't disrespect the person for his opinion by telling him he is a idiot.

Ron was a troll, and trolls have no place on ANY forum.

Mag I respect everyones opinion because it is their's and they have an absolute right to it but i don't have any time for someone that thinks their way is the only way, i have been a gunsmith forabout40 yrs and opinons about guns are about as difficult to discuss as politics and religon, and if you don't have an open mind hte discussions turn into out right fights, and i hope i haven't saidanything to upsetyou. But this is just my opinion.

Calibers should be matched to the game and

the hunting environment to the greatest extent possible. So, there are no
unnecessary large calibers.

Best advice - communicate with the guides, professional hunters, and/or
just successful hunters to get a good feeling for what will give you the best performance in the region you plan to hunt.
