Favorite caliber

I own many different guns and have killed over 60 deer with 12 different cartridges. If forced to pick a favorite caliber, it would be .264. I own (3) 6.5x55s and a 260 Remington. Any of those guns is capable of killing any game in N.A. and I wouldn't worry about killing any of them except the largest bears.

My current favorite is the 6.5 Swedish, but the trusty .308 and 7mm-08 make it a big decision on which to pull out of the safe for a backup rifle on a hunt.

Even if they did shoot good,I personally consider it a slaughter.I watched a culling of elephants on tv once and they used what looked like military self loaders/autos in 762mm nato.I suppose it was necessary and some could enjoy it,but I couldn't bring myself to do such a thing.I guess if it's what someone else likes and it is legal,go for it.My opinion,it has nothing to do with hunting.I have read many stories about ivory hunters and most weren't complimentary.I guess i'm just short on guts. sam.

IDK if I'd call it my favorite, but if or when I get me a bolt action hunting rifle, it'll be in .300win mag. It'll sure as crap knock down what it hits that's for sure. lol

.243 Winchester and the 7mm/08.

If I had to go with one it would be the .243 Winchester as it is good for game up to and including deer, very accurate with low recoil, and low muzzle blast compared to higher powered cartridges especially the magnums.

Remington M700 Mountain Rifle in 7mm-08. Light gun with plenty of punch.

my favorite would have to be the .22 cal rimfire. It is a tried and true caliber and any one can use it from children to veteran hunters. It is cheap,accurate, moderately quiet, and can be shot all day with no ill effects to your shoulder. It is the first rifle most of us cut our teeth on when it comes to guns. It would be the only rifle I would own if I had to choose just one for life. Who doesnt love the 22 rimfire? I just wish I could load them

^+1 Until I read that I was going to say .243 but you hit it right on the head. We all own various guns but for the most part when it comes down to it we all shoot more .22lr than any thing else. OK say its economics or lack of recoil but that adds to its "Favoriteness". If we didn't like it we wouldn't shoot it.

.22 Magnum...Fairly cheap to shoot, compared to centerfires its much cheaper. It is good out too 150yrds on squirrels, or plinking. Yet it is very effective on deer with headshots at 50yrds. Also a great coyote gun out too 100yrds, with headshots. It can put the meat on the table, and you can have fun with it at the same time. Then comes the .22LR.

For me it is a tough call between my Rem 700 .243 and my Win 94 30-30. Both are great for deer and have used the 30-30 for elk, but my 300 WM may be up there once I break it in and get to hunt with it.

Well my favorite caliber is .338, but my favorite gun/chambering has to be the Remington 700 Boone & Crockett in 270 WSM w/ 26" bbl. Perched on top is a Burris Elite 3200 straight 10x it is my "reach out and touch" gun

My favorite cal is the 6mm remington in a remington model 600 to bad the 243 made it flop and my favorite hunting round I only hunt deer and antlope so my is the 25-06 great for the open land flat shooting want to look 257 wm in the near future.

my favorite is .73 caliber or there abouts. 12 gauge! nothing it can't do. can take anything from doves to elephants!
