Loaded Handgun"after hours"

I have a question. Here in Michigan, you can't have your gun loaded after dark during hunting season. You can walk and look for deer at any time after dark, but not with your hunting gun loaded. Now what does this mean for someone either with a CCW permit,or someone open carrying a handgun for protection?I could carry a gun anywhere else legally, but somehow during a few hours,if I happen to be in the woods with a hunting license,it is illegal? If I didn't have a hunting license,it would be legal, since open carry or CCW carry is legal, but since I have a hunting license,I can't carry a loaded handgun? It makes no sense to me.I heard a DNR officer making the statement that you have to be unloaded after dark, but I never asked if a gun that is not your hunting gun counts.

I would assume that it is referring to the gun you are hunting with, but the state's interpretation may vary.

My gun and game laws differ from yours. I can carry a handgun and a long gun if I have a CCW permit. But if I don't, I can only carry one firearm. I can also carry in my vehicle, even though the game laws say I can't have a loaded firearm in my vehicle while hunting. I'd ask your local game warden/game management agency about it.

These laws are to stop poaching. In Wisconsin, you can spotlight deer but you'd better not even have a knife on you or in your vehicle. If you are walking around the woods with a flashlight and carrying a handgun, you'd better have a very good reason or they'll think you're a poacher.

Its illegal to hunt coons here with a flashlight. It makes them freeze up.

It is perfectly legal here to use any artificial lighting to hunt coons, including night vision. But like according to the DNR officer,"you better not be out there with a centerfire rifle claiming your coon hunting".Or your busted for deer poaching!

Some of these laws are so lame, its like saying you cant have beer in youre
car because you may drink some.Out west you may get bit stalked by somthing in
the dark of night.
