8 Nice bucks on first weekend!

I have lots of pics for you guys so bear with me as I can only do 6 at a time! Plus when I get mine on here I have to download my daughters as she took pics of some I couldnt as I was looking through rifle scope to see if it was one I wanted to shoot! lol

The first 3 pics are of a small buck that my daughter and I enjoyed just watching and taking pics of.

The next 2 pics are of a doe and her 2 fawns who are waiting for mom to make sure coast is clear!

The last pic is of a pretty nice 4 point (one side) but he wasnt big enough for what I was looking for! I had also passed up a 5 pointer (one side) earlier, sorry no pics as I had forgotten about having my camera with me, that too was not big enough! All of my point counts are just one side as I cant get used to the way you easterners count both sides! LOL

Now for the ones we got!

Saturday morning at shortly after first light my brother shot the first deer of the season! He got this heavy horned 4 x 5 whitetail! I was around the corner from my brother and I too was looking at this buck as he shot it! I had just told my daughter this deer was not big enough for me so I was going to let it go but my little brother had other ideas!

A few hours later my brother's wife shot her very first deer on her very first deer hunt. She nailed a nice 5 x 5 whitetail and she shot it in the middle of the river so my brother had to go swimming to retrieve her deer in very cold water! My brother says she is now no longer a virgin and next time she shoots one in the river she can retrieve her own da__ed deer! It took him several hours to warmup and dryoff!

The next 3 pics are of my deer the neatest set of horns of the weekend! I got this weird 8 x 5 he has several horns on the right side of his head!

Pic 1 and 2 are of my brother and his buck!

Pic 3 is of my brother's wifes first deer ever!

Pic 4 - 6 are of my 8 x 5 (weird) horned deer! I have seen a lot of freaks shot over the years but in 35 years of deer hunting this was my first freak! I like this one better than any trophy buck Ive ever shot!

More big buck pics!

The next person to get a deer was my son Anthony! He had his girl friend along who had never gone deer hunting but came as an observer and hopefully next year as a hunter! He popped a 4 x 5 mule!

The last person on Saturday to get a buck was my Mom who has also never shot a deer before! She got a 4 x 4 Mule! Way to go Mom! Im proud of you for coming out and getting it done!

Then 3 more pics of my freak buck!

Pic 1 and 2 of my son (Anthony and his girlfriend) with his 4 x 5 Mule

Pic 3 of my Mom and her very first deer! 4x4 Mule

Pic 4 through 6 are more of my freak!

My son Kyles 5x5 whitetail

My 16 year old son (Kyle) shot this nice 5 x 5 whitetail ( with his 30-06) shortly after my niece shot her Mule! We were helping her gut her deer when he shot this buck! He was about 1/2 mile from us! If you knew this boy this was out of norm for him he is scared to be by himself in the woods so for him to go out on his own and get this deer I wish the pics would show how big he feels for doing this one all by himself. He even got to gut his first deer! (with a lot of instructions from several onlookers) He has killed a deer every year since he was 12 but good old dad or another family member has always gutted it for him! Maybe he is finally growing up!

Finally the 8th deer of the weekend!

My Dad known on the G&G forum as (bigione) shot the last deer of the weekend! He got himself a 4 x 5 Mule! Plus dad is now 72 years old so at least he is still at it and loving hunting with his sons and grand kids!

About our hunting!

We hunt on our 1000 acre ranch but actually only hunt on about 800 acres or so. It is all on the river and with 11 hunters we had to do things differently. We erected a bunch of deer blinds or (shacks) as we call them and put them on stilts. We have 5 to 6 windows in them and we use coleman cookstoves for heating and cooking soup and such on them. We get into one before daylight and stay till dark! Right now we have about 10 of them up and hope to have another 15 to 20 more in the next couple of years. When our kids first started hunting we would get out and hunt for about 30 minutes and they got cold and wanted to go back to the pickup so we decided to find another way. Also with 11 or more hunters at a time we decided we had to sit and noone walk as we dont have enough land for everyone to walk and hunt, we end up spooking them across the river to the neighbors so now the neighbors push the deer to us and we let the deer move freely without being disturbed and only shoot the one you think is right for you! Plus we are teaching the kids patience and be selective you dont have to shoot the first one you see!

Pic 1 you can see the shack behind the pickup or over my right shoulder.

Pic 2 a picture of inside the shack my daughter is being camera shy! LOL

Pic 3 The heat source

Pic 4 Front view from inside

Pic 5 rear view from inside

I'm well impressed. Looks like you have a great family tradition going here, by the look of this part of the tradition will be to go out and get another deep freeze each year too Sweet
