Deer draw, Warming up, on California Bashing

Prologue: on the 23rd I'll get this year's results of the deer draw. I put in for X9A, a premium hunt in the Eastern Sierra, expecting to not get it and accumulate the Preference Points so a group of us can go a few years down the road. My second choice is D14, the San Bernardino mountains only an hour from my desert home. That is pretty much a guaranteed draw, they usually don't sell out. It's not a lead-free bullet area but I use them anyway, they shoot best in my gun.
I'm full time watching the grandkids through the summer now, so I needed to get my bike on the road by 7 a.m. to be back before the working folk leave. As long as I go to bed at 10 pm or so that's not an issue, and in fact it was nice and cool for this morning's 5 mile loop. Every day it's just a little easier and I'm having to restrain my self from going to the 10 mile route.
The 10 mile route adds only 1/2 mile more uphill but since I've really only been at this for a week I don't want to over do it. Maybe next week. The other alternative is doubling up the 5 mi. loop but that adds the longer hill too. Maybe after a couple weeks at 10 miles, I could try the double 5. That's about as far out as I want to think.
It's warming up quickly now, its over 100 now even though it was only near 70 this a.m. for my ride.
Over in the forums I guess I reacted to the recent spate of California bashing. Much of what is cited could happen anywhere, but those outside of the state use California as an easy scapegoat. It's one thing to cite a wrong, and another to condemn the entire state and all the people as if we're cheering the wrongdoing on.
So today I posted some of the good things about living here. You can go to the Powder Keg, "Hollywood people" thread to read that, and I wish you would. Also you can see a couple of nice videos.
The thread characterized all Hollywood people as being weird. All? Have they met all? It's that kind of broad brush characterization that I objected to.
I think the true weirdo types are actually taking advantage of the rest of the country. The tabloids are paying them to act strangely, if not in cash by promoting their careers. If you all outside of Cal would stop buying the tabloids and watching useless so-called reality shows that reward odd behavior, it might go a long way to stem this craziness. How's that for turning it around?
