morning report
today was my 'competition' day on the bike. Really it was the first time this season I even cared about how fast. I just felt good so I checked my watch on start, thinking go go go. 1/2 mile flat, 1/2 mile uphill. That uphill went faster than usual so I said hammer down. High gear and the next 2mi at high speed, no rest on the downhill. The final 2mi uphill was a push, work work work. sucking air but I wouldn't slow down. When I first checked my watch at finish I though "OH NO, same as last time!" But after a few minutes of recovery I realized it was 5 minutes faster!
We're still talking rookie times so I'm not submitting my application for the HTC High Road cycle team, but for a 64 year old, not bad!
As I have already said, Saturday is Pine Knot Trail at Big Bear. Here's a snippet.
