Cleaning Temporary Files From the Computer
Posted 05-26-2009 at 12:03 PM by Chris
I see a number of people asking for computer help on the forum. I'm going to go through a few steps, to help keep your computer running smooth, and hopefully malware free. This guide is for Window based computers only. If there is demand for a mac/linux guide, I will make one.
One of the biggest issues with computers is temporary files never being deleted, cookie build up, and just old program updates just sitting on the computer wasting space.
To correct this I recommend a program called CCleaner. You may download it free of charge from www.ccleaner.com or a direct link for download here
When you first start to install it there are several check boxes already checked for you. I would advise you to uncheck those. I've attached a screenshot so you can see it better.

Go ahead and finish the install of the program. You should see an icon on your desktop. Go ahead and open the program.
There are quite a few options inside of this program. For the sake of security, your piece of mind, and keep everyone's computer safe, I will recommend you not touch the settings without knowing if you need them or not.
If you will just click on "Run Cleaner". This may take 30 seconds or it might even take up to five minutes or so. Let it run!
The default settings will allow you to erase history on the browser you use, the computer itself, clean temp files and old system files.
This should help bring free space to your computer and fix most issues you may have with any website including this one.
All the best,
Chris

I seem to be haveing a problem. I downloaded this and it went through the process of what it does.
It found 32 Infections. When I clicked to remove them and Invoice comes up wanting me to pay for the program.
I've been trying to remove this program with out success.
A window comes up and blocks my attempts to remove it.
The window ask's why and has box's to click for reason's.
Anyway I'll have to figure out away to get rid of it. I thought it was a free computer check.
Like I said it downloaded then ran and before I could remove the cookies and spyware it posted an invoice for the product.
Now I can't get rid of it and it want do what I thought it was suppose to do with out clicking to buy.Posted 05-27-2009 at 11:57 AM by ArkansasHunter

it is free to use and update too.
Using other browser than IE can help too.... I love firefox as it erase/empty all history, cookies, cache and stuff when you get out... Sometimes it is a pain to remember an reenter all these pw and usernames but....
(and I use linux so I am not too worried about viruses for now)Posted 06-23-2009 at 07:19 PM by stephaneb
