Taking some time off

Posted 07-12-2009 at 08:59 AM by Chris
Over the past months I have seen so many members take a few weeks or even months off from the site...I was wondering what the problem could be. Does it lie with the site itself, the staff, or simply people in general.

I believe that G&G while to some is fun and entertaining, it's a bit of work for a few of us. I work about an hour and a half away from my current home (Moving apartments). I forgot my computer for the last day or so. While I still had computer access, I did not access G&G. I'm currently on my apartments computer lab computers and I see G&G in a new light.

It takes a small if even a small break to understand what is going on.

To most this post will make absolutely no sense, but then again this is my blog so maybe it's just a way for me to vent!

Hope to see everyone around the forums, and look for new resilent ready to go type of attitude from me

    Chris,

I believe I understand what you mean above. I've also observed that some members take breaks from the site...then come back apparently renewed in their interests. That seems to be a "normal" thing...could happen to anyone. People need breaks from routines...but when the back off and think about their real interests, they usually come back with new motivations and interest.l

Even myself for example...for the past two weeks I've been away from G&G much of the time....because my PC got a serious virus, I was on vacation, and busy with other things. None of this absence was because of a lack of interest in G&G...but because "stuff" just happens out of our control sometimes.

And yes, G&G represents "work" to some of us, as well as "pleasure" that more than makes up for the aggravations that we face sometimes. To be honest, I'd be lost without g&g. I've met members here who have become good friends. I've gotten advice of many kinds about guns and more here that is invaluable. I've been able to chat with people from all over the world...who I have enjoyed meeting.

So...I believe G&G is the best gun site on the web. I'm proud to have a small part in it's operation.

As a relatively new forum member, I tend to visit my various forums on a semi-regular basis. I am usually up on this forum and the others three or four times a week. I tend not to visit every forum everyday since there are not always questions I have or comments I wish to make.
And since a good portion of what I own are one brand only, I tend to spend the most amount of time on that forum that is dedicated to the brand of pistol I own.
That does not mean I don't visit the other as well, I just tend to gravitate more naturally toward it.
I truly enjoy this forum as well and will continue to read and post comments here.

While I beleive that some breaks are normal as ox said there are others that may need a break to keep their anger at certain ppl from exploding . I have a freind on here that was banned for defending his children . I have known this man for 10 + yrs and I do not think his intentions were anything but honerable . While he may be a bit emotional at times due to the fact that he is a very careing person and ppl seem to know how to push those buttons for him . He says he won't be back because any site that allows the word nigger to be used is useless to him . I am just quoteing here . I kind of agree with that but being it is a private site what do you do except boycott . It may not have helped that he ticked of a moderator but thats his fight not mine .
