Are you a young member?

While I welcome all users to the site, I want to offer a piece of advice.
If you are under 18, you are not legally allowed to buy ammo, or any firearm. So don't post about you purchasing "your favorite brand".
This type of postings are not welcomed, and it's quite possibly the stupidest thing you can post here.
Posting of things like this will not be accepted, and can lead to your direct banning.
This isn't a way to punish the "young", but protect myself and this site from unwanted media attention.

I think the key operative word was BUY, which in the case of ammo and firearms is illegal for those below the age of 18. I wouldn't think anyone would object in the least about performance, quality and satisfaction reports concerning the lawful USE of the aforemeantioned products by members under the age of 18.Posted 03-14-2008 at 06:50 PM by ezearln

I wish I were illegal.I could take being banned just to be 18 or even 48 again. sam.Posted 03-26-2008 at 02:15 PM by samuel

I'd have to agree with ezearln, it is illegal for a minor to buy but not for 1 to shoot or have a firearm opinion. Even though this site is not a huge draw to minors don't make them feel discouraged by sending them off because they can't buy stuff themselves, we need kids coming into hunting and shooting if we want our sport to survive. This doesn't mean that if they come on here and get sent away they won't hunt or shoot but in my childhood if it had happened to me I would have been very discouraged. Plus anything they get off this site is better than anything on youtube or myspace.Posted 04-08-2008 at 05:49 PM by vikingpreacher

One of the reasons I left another firearms forum is the advice given to minors who were seeking ways to carry weapons and have possession of them against the wishes of their parents. I found such posts disturbing and those giving "advice" criminal in their attitude and disrepectful of both the law and the parents.Posted 07-21-2008 at 08:45 PM by DWFan

I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I've learned enough in my ~8 years of shooting to know more than *SOME* adults. Whenever I'm at the range I'm one of the people who points out a saftey issue to the lesser experienced shooters, of if they just made a mistake (I know mistakes can be deadly). Half the time I am more mature and detail oriented than the shooters I correct. I know that it is illegal to purchase firearms and ammunition, but it is not illegal to use them. I guess some of the comments here are based on the assumption that "teenagers" are not able to assume the responsibility of using a firearm? I'm not quite sure, but thats what it sounds like to me.Posted 10-20-2009 at 09:29 PM by caopai

caopai, my kids adhered to the law,and only went shooting with me. Both sons enlisted in the USMC, and one is still in, after 12 years. They are now legal gun owners, and have never had a problem. What everyone is saying is, obey the law, and protectyour future rightto own firearms. If you get caught doing something illegal now, it may cost you the right to own fireamrs when you come of age. Thatis it in a nutshell, along with the fact that the membership does not condone anything done illegally, by minors. Read up on the laws, and follow them. When you reach the legal age, to own firearms, by all means exercise your right. We are simply trying tokeep you,and ourselves out of any possible jam!
