Bad morning Sunday

I'm heading out to go to work this past Sunday. 0620 in the morning, obviously dark this time of the year. A yearling deer jumps out in front of me from no where (I'm usually pretty good at spotting and avoiding them) I clip it's rear end. I stop and notice the poor critter is crippled in the rear end.
I couldn't just leave it there to suffer. All I had was my carry knife for the day. Iv'e been getting foregetfull so for everyday carry it's been the S&W Cutti'n Horse.
I had to run it down and stand on it's head to cut it's throat. I know, not pretty, & I wasn't proud of it. I called my buddy to come get it as I had to be to work on time or be on the bad boy list. Talk about feeling like crap.

Just asking...becasue I haven't run into that situation yet. In your state of Illinois, is it legal to harvest a deer hit by a car? Or...do you have to contact the state conservation department for their ruling?Posted 11-01-2008 at 08:44 PM by Oxford -
