A week to kill.

Posted 04-20-2008 at 06:19 PM by Sins-of-Mosin
I finally get my FOID card which makes it legal for me to bring my guns and ammo to this crappy state. A couple things stopped me from going this weekend. One being that I didn't get my FOID until Saturday and that my dad was gone on business Friday and Saturday. Apparently, he has perfected his t-bone steak grilling and insisted that I come next week. So it did work out in that regard.

So, here I am on a Sunday with five days of work to go before I leave Friday night. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive to my parents. So when I get there, barely enough time to meet and greet before bed. I'll only have a few moments to scout out my stuff before the woman yells for bed.

I've been going over in my head exactly what I'm going to do once I wake up on Saturday.

1) Unpack all guns and lay them out. Since I lost my spreadsheet with all my gun and ammo info, I have re-do it.

2) Sort thru all my gear - cleaning, targets, parts, etc etc.

3) Proceed to take apart and clean each gun.

4) Unpack ammo and do a count. Will try to separate brands.

5) Find my clay thrower and see if the spring is still good.

6) Since I can only fit so much in my car, carefully pack away guns and ammo I'm not taking.

7) Pack guns and ammo I'm taking. Make sure to not put too much ammo in one thing so I can't carry it.

Thats my list so far. It'll probably take me all morning to do this and maybe even into the afternoon.

Since the guns haven't been touched in quite some time (2-3 yrs) I have a tiny knot in my gut that they all rusted solid. I know they are in a good spot and packed good but I guess I won't get rid of this knot until I see them again.
