The Church

Every now and then I watch the sermon from my home church in New Orleans on the internet on Sundays because I have not been able to find a church that I love as much as this one. Today, the pastor made a most excellent point. I touched on this earlier this week in the accountability poll thread, but he said "The Church is not being the salt in the community like it should be." He said the world is always going to be the world, and has always been the world. The world is doing what the world is supposed to do. By that he means people are always going to murder, rape, steal, etc. That's no surprise. People are doing what they've always done. But the church needs to make a bigger impact in the community. It needs to be the light in the dark, the salt in a low sodium society. His points basically said that we should examine ourselves to make sure we are capable of making an impact in the community. How can you be the light if you're serving alcohol to an alcoholic out of your refrigerator? How can you be the light if you're taking the drug addict to the dope house? Etc, etc. The points of the sermon are as follows:
1. Examine your relationship with God
a. Examine your heart
b. Makes sure your lifestyle is consistent with what you do the rest of the week.
2. Examine your relationship with the church
a. Why do you go to church? Do you want to make a difference? Use your God-given talents.
3. Examine your relationship with the world.
a. Are you in Church on Sunday and in the world the rest of the week? Are you straddling the fence? Are you double minded?
This sermon taken from 2 Corinthians 13: 3-6

Thank you Texas T for careing and sending this to me.
I agree with it and if we are liveing in the last days to the end, we as Christians do need to be a brighter light to the world.
Ready to share the gospel of Christ...It's our calling to do that.
Sadly many of us because of the cares of the world fail to be witness'es includeing me.
The sermon sounds to be right on the mark so please continue to watch the program on your computer.
Lastly as Christians or professing Christians we fail to continualy read our Bibles and I am guilty of that to.
Thats how we really grow in Christ as well as attending Churches like this one.
Take care girl and Thanks for the PM...God Bless you...MikePosted 03-01-2009 at 10:50 AM by ArkansasHunter

Thank you for that - it does my heart good to hear of such faith. We must be a light in the world - not conformed to it.
God bless. LSPPosted 06-03-2009 at 09:55 PM by Lonestar Parson
