I should have stayed home today.

Well I woke up in the middle of the night with a killer headache that was refractory to advil. Everytime I would move my head the headache would come back. Being that I didn't feel like driving 1 hour to get to clinic today only to be greeted by Spanish speaking only patients. I have no problem with Spanish speakers, but I speak broken spanglish so I really can't communicate with them well. It's very frustrating. Yesterday from 8 to 5 there was only 1 patient that spoke fluent English. Anyway, I stayed in bed until 6:30am knowing that I needed to leave by 7am to get there on time. So I finally got up and took a shower and put on some clothes. At that time I still had my finger on the email button ready to send the course coordinator an email saying I wouldn't be able to make it to work today, but my headache finally eased so I decided to just go in. By that time it's after 7am so I walk out the door. I stopped to get a breakfast burrito because I didn't care whether I was late or not at that point.
When I got there (maybe 15 minutes late) I signed in and found out the midwife I was supposed to follow was in meetings all day today. Yesterday they told me I needed to watch some anatomy ultrasounds so I just headed over there. The friggin ultrasound techs act like they don't even want me there and started questioning me about where I should be. WTF lady, I drove an hour to get here plus I'm paying money to learn don't give me your lip AND you told me to come in the morning to see them. Besides that I was just doing what I was told to do. At that point I wanted so badly to just walk out and not return. Not like anyone would have noticed anyway. After I watch 2 ultrasounds, one of the nurses from the station goes and finds another nurses station for me to be at. It was obvious they were all talking about me and not wanting me there. Well since the feeling was mutual I just went with it. But it wasn't like I was doing anything wrong, I guess they just didn't want a student today.
I roughed my way through the morning which flew by quickly, thank God. I told them I had to leave at noon because I had a meeting. I know what you're thinking and yes I do have a meeting but it's at 3. I had to factor in the hour drive, lunch time, and "detox myself from rude ppl" time.
To make matters worse, I have to take the toll road to get back home and it stole my money!. I probably put in an extra dollar because it wouldn't read my change correctly. I have a bone to pick with the city of Houston.
I'm so over this rotation. I hate the cervix.
Piss on it!

| | It is little Mexico. The nurses didn't even speak English in the break room. |

| | Speaking of not speaking english. My lunch hour consists of good food and a good book in our break room. It pisses me off when the employees are loud and speaking giberish to each other. |
