Lack of Activity on G&G!

Posted 11-11-2007 at 01:24 AM by toolman
O.K. guys, as most of you know, I'm off work due to a shoulder injury. This stupid shoulder is keeping me from doing much of anything with my grip business, it's hampering my hunting, and just pixxing me off in general. This means I'm spending much more time on the 'net. Now, G&G is just about the only place I go to for social interaction, and it seems like you guys have been slacking a bit. I've come to realize that since you all live in my computer, you are here for my entertainment and I NEED TO BE ENTERTAINED! You guys aren't doing your jobs! I'm ordering everyone on this forum to post, post now, and post good stuff that I can respond to, otherwise I'll end up standing in a corner and talking to myself like Billy! He promised that we were going to be hog-hunting pirates, but he let me down, so now I'm bored.

this is the best one EVER!
i always wondered where it came from

Damn the torpedoes, Full speed ahead!"

Admiral David Glasgow Farragut (1801-1870). Aboard Hartford, Farragut entered Mobile Bay, Alabama, 5 August 1864, in two columns, with armored monitors leading and a fleet of wooden ships following. When the lead monitor Tecumseh was demolished by a mine, the wooden ship Brooklyn stopped, and the line drifted in confusion toward Fort Morgan. As disaster seemed imminent, Farragut gave the orders embodied by these famous words. He swung his own ship clear and headed across the mines, which failed to explode. The fleet followed and anchored above the forts, which, now isolated, surrendered one by one. The torpedoes to which Farragut and his contemporaries referred would today be described as tethered mines.
