The trouble with tribbles...

OK, lately it has become quite the hot topic about the Powder Keg and who can post what and what-not. There are a select few hot heads that pretty much ruin it for everyone. So then G&G takes the stance of most gun control people, if the few make mistakes or get out of line, we shall punish everyone.
Look, I love G&G, I spend most of my time here, I know that Chris, Mooseman, Billy,TT, Midas and all the others are just trying to make the whole place enjoyable for everyone. But at the same time, I think that a lot of the problems come from totally innocent posts, for example the post that Marine 1 had about our two brothers coming home from Iraq after being MIA (now KIA) for over a year. The post was meant to be a nod to those men and their families, but within three posts it was all about muslims and Iraq and so on and so forth.
Do I have all the answers? NO, but I think that a lot of the problems are that people don't have someplace to vent how they think, feel, or be philosophical about stuff. So then you have a totally innocent post that gets turned into something its not, why? Because where else can they post about it?
When I first started coming here, I went to the Powder Keg after I had visited all the other forums that had info that I wanrted to read. I would go there to see what was up for debate today. I never took anything out of there, it was all just a difference of opinion. But now the "Powder keg" has lost all its powder, now it is more like, the "Flour Keg"

I agree! I'm sorry I lost my temper, but I'm tired of the usual suspects, who have never served, weighing in with their anti-everything mentality. There are a few on here that better be glad that we don't know where they live! ..... and I'll leave it at that! Alright Frog, the floor is yours. LOL!Posted 07-12-2008 at 11:31 AM by Brother Bob

I'm sorry I lost MY temper, too. But I get tired of those who never served, telling me that I'm the problem. I gave 13 years of my life, to serve, and defend this great nation, and ended up disabled. I have lived with chronic pain since I was 23 years old. But it was worth the sacrifice, to know that I did the best job I could, for the USA. And to have a wet behind the ears youngster pass judgement on me, here or anywhere else, makes me want to puke! There, I'm done, and hope this never happens again.Posted 07-12-2008 at 02:00 PM by Seabeescotty

I never got the chance to serve in the military, I had a tree cut down on me when I was 16. I had once hoped to make it a career. I feel I lost my entire future that day. I salute you guys and am honored to know you.
As far as the weanie blaim America crowd goes they make me sick too. Sometimes I have to log off to cool down. Sometimes it takes all day others, two or three. This is my country. My blood and my families blood are in it's soil. It is part of me and I am part of it and I am sick and tired of hearing about how we are wrong for wanting to defend our nation. Whew!! now I'm P.O.ed again. lolPosted 07-12-2008 at 07:26 PM by jimkim

I guess we can easily get hacked off at what we
know in our hearts. Like a cat that gets its fur ruffed.
I will support this forumwhen im financially able because I believe basically it serves a purpose for the greater good and I dont want to miss use it.
As far as the antis go Ill tolerate them as long as they tolerate me.... Not too long,is it?....There is nothing even steven any more and I guess that went away when my child hood died. When I started growing up in the military I found out this is a dog eat dog world even in this country where the people we put in office today only wish to make us what we dont desire. A government for the government ect....
I too get fired up when all I cherish so close is
in danger and people try to instill fear to stay in power and to usurp my freedom. The national media in my opinion is their aide and instead of reporting the truth they just report propaganda.
Thats why all thats on the screen theese days is trash. If all the national media is fair and ballanced then how come fox is the only one to do a whole spread on Tony Snows death and Tim Russert where
the national guys only expounded specials on Russert.
I had respect for both but the meda is laking in the fairness dept.Posted 07-12-2008 at 08:01 PM by Paul T

Hi Jimkim! I reckon this is as good a place to palaver as any. And thank you! We don't expect to be treated special, or better than other folks, but a tiny bit of civility is nice! I got awful heated yesterday, when I was told that I'm part of the problem with this country. I gave 13 years of my life to this country! The last six was done with a bad arm. I have had pain, and trouble, because of it, but it was worth it to serve my country. Enough of the soapbox, glad you found us!Posted 07-12-2008 at 08:06 PM by Seabeescotty

Thanks TT, Bro Bob, Jimkim, Paul, and Seabee, you know, this ain't so bad! I think I kinda like it actually, hey it could be worse! Hey Bro bob, what ever happened to your adventures over to the Rush Limbaugh forum? I guess this place kinda sticks in your hair like a burr don't it?! JimKim, more than anything else, serving is just like any other job, you take out of it what you put into it. I respect somebody who wants to serve, but can't, 1 million to the 8th power more than I do someone who thinks serving only when the nation is "under direct attack" is what should be done. (All guff if you ask me!) If that was how all our wars were fought, we would have been hard pressed to have pushed the Nazi and Japanese back in TWICE the time it actually took! With god only knows how many more American deaths.
Well i ain't gonna beat a dead horse, they start to stink after a while. Fellas (and one most gracious lady), thanks for readin!Posted 07-12-2008 at 08:26 PM by USAF_462/2W1X1

Oh Hey Scotty, when I saw that "unnamed scoundral" say YOU were part of some misconcieved "problem", I was on my way out the door to work. I says to myself, I says, "Ohhhhhh you just wait until I get to work and have time to rip you a new @$$ for that you know-nothing!" Well by the time I got to work, someone had beaten me to it, bottom line, I was HOTTT!Posted 07-12-2008 at 08:32 PM by USAF_462/2W1X1

There's a group of older folks that cook hot meals at the Oklahoma City airport and wait for the arriving troops. The troops are showered with love as they walk down the concourse. Small American flags are waiving everywhere and the returning troops usually well up in tears as they receive hugs, kisses, and handshakes from strangers. A hot, home-cooked meal and then they are on there way back home to their families. I don't believe it's a First Amendment Right to "boo" our returning troops and spit on them. Our troops should be held in the highest regard. Always!Posted 07-13-2008 at 06:24 AM by Brother Bob

Like I said earlier, Bob, I'd rather go to jail, than see another veteran catch abuse the way I did. We had rallys, on a busy street corner, every weekend, in Modesto. A protestor walked into our midst, and started to raise an abusive sign. I calmly told him he was gonna have to eat the sign, if he didn't move on down the block. I guess I got thru to him, because he looked around at thegathering, tucked his tail, and headed on down the sidewalk. I figured if he wanted to exercise his 1st amend. rights, he oughta do it with his own kind, and not in the middle of military families, and veterans.Posted 07-13-2008 at 07:43 AM by Seabeescotty
