what range for bow?

What’s the average range that most shots are taken with a bow? I know that it goes with the skill of the shooter, but what do you set your sights for, 15, 30, and 45? I head some say that they set max at 50 Yard’s but that seems like a awfully long shot with a bow. I was thinking of setting my max at 35 yards.

My sights are adjustable in 5 yard increments maxed at 35 yds. I will shoot out to 25 yds but as you said it's your skill and that's all I can handle. I generally try to get in position for a 15 or 20 yard shot.

I feel most comfortable inside 20 yards for hunting.

Just goofing around target shooting, have done 40 with decent results.

I`ve got an old Red-Wing Hunter re-curve bow and for me it`s 20 yards
and under.

Your maximum effective range depends on several different things. Some one shooting a recurve is probably going to have a shorter effective range than someone with a modern compound. With my setup I would not be afraid to shoot out to 40-45 yards. I am shooting 3" groups at 40. I have a friend that probably shouldn't shoot much past 25-30 yards. He doesn't practice much thus he doesn't shoot as well.

i am very confident shootin 30 yards and under i have my farthest sight at 40 yards and i shoot very good from taht distant and i am still very confident yesterday i have a buck at 50 yards and couldent get him to budge and move int he 10 yards i needed but then again thats archery huntin
