come on guys, i live for bowhunting and there only 2 posts in this forum?!?! i worked in a bow shop for years so if anyone has ANY questions, i will be happy to do my best to answer them for you. Anyone plunked anything with their bow yet this year? i have one doe down and many more deer awaiting their casket (aka my freezer). I also missed a grouse and elbowed my tree while drawing back on a racoon. hahaha!

hey how yah doin yah i live for archery huntin its all i think about and all i ever wanna do im kinda upset that ppl on this site dont enjoy it like me and u do if u want a site that im also a member of that ppl just love archery its archerytalk.com its awesome and it has everything u would need

i actually do have a question i have my bow sights all the way up and all the way right and i shoot good but is there ne thing else besides my sights i could move to "center" my shot and not have my sights so far out

Bowhunter here. I have seen several bucks but nothing close enough to shoot. I did shoot a doe sunday before last but I hit a limb or something and hit her too far back and never found her.

rdnck, y r ur sights all the way up and right? do u use a peep sight? if so, the goal is that when you are anchored in place at full draw, that you can see your whole sight through your peep with the pins cantered through the peep. and i am not sure what you mean by "straighten out" or "center your shots". that kind of stuff is usually more of a rest thing. the best way to Straighten out is paper tuning your shots. Move your rest accordingly and then once you get that right move your pins accordingly.

I'd recommend that you start in close and work your way out,.....adjust as needed. if you can use an elevated patio deck,...that would be the best for fine tuning. if you don't have access to a deck, use a steep slope!!! sights don't make the shooter,.......they just make the shooter better,.....or more accurate.

I've actually stopped using tree stands!!! I hunt off of a slope or ridge. natural backstop, and i draw them into a tight area (funnel). i've had great results using this method. You can even bring your target out into your shooting area on the off season....that's what i do.

My grandpa got me a bow some time last year, I was really into it for about 8 months but now, I haven't shot my bow for a long time. I've been to one 3-D shoot and almost beat my grandpa by 6 points man it was fun but here in cali, you can only shoot your bow at a range

Hunted 4 days in Mason Texas at Mason Mountain WMA this October. A RAW hunt! Scouting quickly and making decisions. As usual picking wrong trail, deer come in on the downwind or it's a 40 -50 yard shot, not comfortable shooting at those distances.

Bill, here's a question.

Thinking of making a cardboard cut out of doe to place near a tree stand and using doe-in-estrus scent around it. Any thoughts?

Have seen bucks chasing does. Grunted at him. He looks my way. But I'm thinking since he sees no reason to come closer because he's already chasing does.

Also and / or making several black painted cardboard cutouts of pigs or Turkey to place around me when setting in ground blind (or next to stump) so if that Muy Grande Buck comes in down-wind it might pause long enough to get shot off.

I smell what your stepping in. Iv'e been at it with sharp stick for about 7 or 8 years. I hit a nice 8 point once, a little high, should have got him but never did track him down. Not for lack of trying.

I do get a little more adrennilin pumped with a bow than gun. With a gun, if it's brown, it's down.

I can say I have enjoyed every time Iv'e been in the woods though. Someday mabe one will walk close enough for that magical flight of the arrow.

I'm not sure what you mean, more adrennilin? So far, the four times I let one fly(arrow) and other times when deer have been close I have not had buck fever or even doe fever. That's just me. Maybe it's the odds of making a hit or that most of the deer just appeared and had to shoot.

Call me a sissy but my best shot was, from prone postion firing the 03A3 and making a left-eyed head shot at 125 paces.
I like eating venison.

(I better not boast too much.

This last week I missed a neckshot on spike buck from a blind. The next evening my experienced hunting buddy missed that same spike from off-hand position. )

Hi I am new to this group and saw this about bowhunting and just had to say hello.I have been bow hunting since 1974 and have taken many game animals over the years with my longbow,recurve and compound bows.My father made my first bow when I was 5 years old and I have been an avid archer ever since then.
