if you have light winds in hill country there is constant shifting winds. it is not unusual to have the wind shift several times covering a complete 360 degrees in less than an hour. doing everthing you can to control scent gives you an important edge. anyone can get lucky and get a nice deer using archery equipment, but to be consistant at taking deer requires a great deal of effort and paying attention to the smallest details. when your going after one of the big boys, they rarely do stupid things (until the breeding season, then they are more prone to mistakes)

I have been using UV killer and sent killers for years, I have never had good luck with doe pee or the likes, I think the deer have to be in the right frame of mind for that, I have better luck rattling, in the right time. as said before, pay attention to the details, and the rest will fall into place. good luck and good hunting.. |
