2"vs 4or5" vains

hello to all

i've got a question

do the 2" vains have that much of a positive impact over the longer ones. a few years ago i bought new carbon arrows and they have the 4" on them but they are showing there age, and i was getting to have new fletching put on them and i see on most new arrows they have the 2".

and in my looking into new ones i saw these ones that you boil water and place on the shaft and they shrink to the shaft are they as good as they clam to be?

Just this year i switched to 2" Blazer vanes. My old vanes were 4" with an agressive right helical. The 4"ers spun very well, but gave off a noise you could hear as they caught the air and spun. This drag also cost me some speed. I only had my local shop glue up a half dozen arrows, so if i didn't like them i could use the other half dozen 4"ers again. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Quieter, faster, and every bit as accurate! I now use only 1 pin from 0-30 yards with only about 3 inches of drop. The 2" Blazer vanes are made of a thicker, more rigid plastic than most conventional 4 or 5" vanes. That is why they are able to stabilize my 115 grain Muzzy 4 blade broadheads so well. My advice to you....don't hessitate!

The shorter 2" vanes are good for carbon arrows, and the longer 3.75-4" vanes are good for aluminum. Either way, the quickfletch system you mentioned works extremely well for me. I would recommend the quick spin ones- Cabela's -- NAP QuickFletch&#174 Speed Hunter Vanes
over the twister ones- Cabela's -- NAP QuickFletch® Twister Vanes
even though the twister ones are a little cheaper, the quick spin ones greatly improve accuracy with less variation at different yardages.

And One more thing, if you do go with the quick fletch vanes, make sure not to compleatly strip the old fletchings off, leave a slight little bit of the base on to allow the shrink wrap stuff to hold onto so it does not slide off of the arrow. and don't make the mistake i did and set the knock on the bottom the pot when you put it in the boiling water because it will melt the knock if you allow it to touch the pot.

I found the opposite. 2" did not stabalize my muzzy 4 blade.
I have always been a feather user and will be going back to 4" feathers with a helical.
To me the best there is, light as 2" with more area to stabalise

2" blazers will stabilize all arrows (carbon/alu.) just like a 4"-5" vane will do. the blazers stand up to abuse more than the basic flimsy vanes.
then you also increase your FOC with 2" blazers, which is a plus!
feathers are nice to a point but cant handle the weather.

I dont know if you folks know about these but theres also another option, but only if you have a drop away rest - FOB's - it has a shorter crosswind profile (1/2" length) & a smaller Dia. by about a 1/16th" than a 2" blazer vane. & they do work!
just that they pop off if a pass through & you shouldnt shoot several arrows at the same spot cuz you'll land up breaking some.
