Browning BPS

Holy crap in a handbasket. I'm sittin here on the computer, reading the forums, cleaning a newly acquired Browning BPS that someone apparently dropped in a swamp (there are actually dead bugs in it). I have NEVER had so much trouble putting a shotgun back together. Looks like this is gonna take awhile.

Seems like an great shotgun. Smooth action. Shoulders well. Lack of tactical accessories means I'll have to stick with my 870 for defense. This seems like a good duck gun.

At each gun show I see a Browning BPS tactical shotgun - in 10ga!

Shortened barrel, extended magazine. Looks like a custom job, but well done. They want too much for it. I'd try haggling if I had the $$$ to spare. Might try it later. I think it's been there for years.

Wow 10 gauge! It's a shame they don't make accessories for what looks to be a fine pump gun. It's smoother than my 870 and has the tang safety which I prefer. Just don't wann strip one down again any time soon. I don't think you'd have to. It was cycling fine with mud and dead bugs stuck in it.

Chasing women?

Did the bugs cause any permanent damage like rust?

There were a few spots, but some oil and steel wool cleaned them up.

My son purchased a new Browning pump action 12 gauge, with a 26" barrel last hunting season. I used it myself on clay targets at the skeet range, and on quail, rabbit and pheasant hunts. It's really a sweet shooting pump.
I was always partial to my Remington 870 for this type of my hunting but I got so used to the Browning BPS and it's quality and feel, that I bought one for myself. The fit and finish, and the deep blueing and gloss walnut stock is a beauty.
I'm not interested in home defense with it, I have other firearms for that, nor any accessories. It's great right out of the box as is.
