| Where can I find info on repairing Coleman Lanterns? A friend gave me two non-funtioning Coleman lanterns a few weeks ago. One is bent and probably unfixable, but the other seems okay. I've tried replacing the pump but it just will not work. Is there a website or some place to send it for repair that won't cost as much as a new one? |

| This might help: The Old Town Coleman Center and Museum: Technical Assistance And if you need parts, go to the source: Coleman.com - Repair Parts for Lanterns

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | Hey...I've been looking for a source of parts for my two old almost antique Coleman gas fired lanterns. One's a single burner, the other has two. I'm needing new generators in both and see from the link above they're available for $8 @ plus shipping. Thanks just_a_car for the link. Ox

| I was given three older Coleman lanterns with the hopes of cannibalizing them to make a working one. But, after seeing just_a_car's link I am tempted in just repairing all three back to near original condition. Thanks just_a_car!

| Thanks for the info on Coleman lantern repairs. I have a couple of Coleman lanterns that need some tune-up attention.

| Super Moderator ![]() | I work on them all the time so If I can be of any assistance, let me know. The pumps are the most trouble next to generators. If you remove the wire clip that holds the pump cap and retract the pump out, usually, you will find the leather pump has dried out. Soak it in light motor oil for a while, then using your fingers, spread the "Cup" out and work the leather a bit. Reinsert it over the valve stem, replace the cap and retainer clip... It should pump pressure now...Check also the fuel cap seal.... Rich

| Mooseman, We used to do that to older and worn generator leather parts too...only we used the closest oil at hand, vegetable oil. Glad to see it's still in practice.

| just a car: Thank you for the links. It looks like I might be able to fix the one lantern. I also checked out an old coleman single mantle lantern in my late grandpaw's shop. I got it going in a matter of minutes (after cleaning out the dirt dabber nests). Now grandmaw has a good lantern to suplement flashlights during power outages. Once again thank you for your help. |

| Thanks for the info on the lanterns. I have an old single mantel lantern, with a brass bottom/fuel can. Have wanted to restore it for years, but never a source for parts. Thanks a million. |

| I cherrish my old single mantle coleman lantern. Thanks for the heads up on parts. I use it for tracking game after dark. I have no idea why it works so well on making the blood stand out. If you put an aluminum foil reflecter and hold it close to the ground the blood stands out like a sore thumb. The only lantern I have found to work this way was the old coleman single mantle. Like I say doesn't figure, but it works! OT |

| Coleman lantern Read the post regarding rebuilding but my sit. is a bit easier I think. I'm getting mist coming out of the generator but once re-assembled, there is no "hissing" noise coming out once pumped and opened. How do I clean the burner assembly? I suspect therin lies the problem. Bill |

| Super Moderator ![]() | Remove the handle, top, globe, and generator...Make sure the little hook inside the Generator is positioned right where it threads onto the valve. The bent end hooks into the hole in the flat piece when you rotate the wire wrapped device that turns on the outside...If you didnt put that in proper the wire that comes up thru the nozzle will be stuck up in it blocking the gas flow...By design, the screens on the tube where you tie the mantle keeps anything from going in the Mixing chamber...
