I was talking to the local ccw instructer, and He is banning makarovs and tokarevs, from the range for ccws, claiming they are pieces of absolute crap, and no one should be using them for ccw, I guess thats true across the country, as other ccw instructers are doing the same thing he claims

Sounds like they're being leaned on indirectly by domestic companies who have a harder time selling $300 compact 380 pistols when you can get more power out of a $150 compact 9x18mm pistol.

I'm wondering if the instructor ban on Maks and Toks have anything to do with the fact they are not American made and carry with them the notion and stigmatism they were carried by groups of people the US was, at one time or another, political and combat enemies? When you mention Tokarevs are you also referring to the CZ52 (?) which I often refer to as a Tok only because of it's ammo (yes, I know a Tokarev and CZ52 are two different pistolas). Some people seem to think the Maks and Toks are dangerously made guns. I can't speak for the Toks but I, personally, have had a serious mechanical problem with my E. German Mak. As most know the trigger guard pulls downward to allow the gun to be taken apart. On one particular day of firing, and because of my modified cup and saucer grip, the trigger guard was pulled down and I had a slide launch on firing. Whether this has happened to others on a frequent basis I have no idea. I do know it taught me to use the single hand supported grip and not to wrap one hand around the fingers of the grip hand.
