Not to common anymore? I've done some googling for a couple days now and haven’t found much on the .45 Colt being used for CCW. Is this Revolver caliber not too commonly used for that role? Has it ever?

The only thing I've ever seen the .45 colt carried for CCW was a Bond Arms Texas Defender. I think that when most people hear ".45 Colt" they think of a Colt Peacemaker and quickly dismiss it as being a "cowboy gun".

But it would be perfectly fine for CCW if one could manage to find and/or conceal a gun as big as a .45 Colt wheel gun might be? Just curious

The bad thing about large caliber revolvers is that they "print" real bad through a shirt when worn on the hip. If I was going to carry a .45 colt concealed, I would go with a Ruger Vaquero Sheriff's model. It has a "Birds head" grip and the barrel is 3-3/4 inch. You would probably have to get a custom concealment holster for it though.

Taurus makes concealable revolvers in that caliber http://www.taurususa.com/products/pr...-revolvers.cfm

I often carry a Ruger Vaquero in .45Colt with a 4 3/4" barrel on it. Have a holster i got from Mernickle holsters and that thing conceals it as well as any other belt holster i have seen on ANY weapon. The holster cost me something close to 80 bucks or so, but it was just something i had to have, and isnt near as expensive as other gunleather i have seen.
