Billy, I have a question.

Hey, can you give me a rundown on Colorados CCW laws. I have read the CDPS page concerning CCW but cannot find anythin concerning state parks. I am going to state forest state park in july to get away for awhile. Gonna do some fishing, siteseeing and hopefully get some geocaching in. Can I carry my handgun in a CO state park?

I read in Guns and Ammo you have to have the ammo, mag, and gun stored and locked seperatley. I was like "!!!, if some druggie decides to commandeer my truck, he's getting some .45 as a going away present."

I found the parent page that contained that link and it said it was last updated on 1/24/2007 and didn't contain the 2007 regulations, so I would assume they haven't changed, but as mentioned, I'd call them and get it from the horse's mouth. Also, if you do carry, I'd carry a copy of that brochure with me to prove to the authorities that you're not breaking the law; just cuz they have a badge doesn't mean they've memorized the rulebooks.

Also, it appears that your state supreme court has ruled on the City of Denver's attempt to stop you from carrying in parks, plus Packing.org says (but is not the final authority) that you can carry in state parks: Packing.org | To view this page, you must agree to the Disclaimer

I have attempted to contact several people in the state of Colorado concerning CCW in the state and they never seem to be in the office when I call. I have E-Mailed the attorney general and he gave me no help. I also contacted the CDPS and he was no help, he told me I had not emailed him enough information about myself to answer my question. I didn't ask him about reciprocity, I know Mo and Co have that. He doesn't need info on me to aswer the question. It's a yes or no question, can you carry in state parks or not? Either they are giving me the runaround or they just don't know! I can tell that I'm dealing with politicians!!!!!!!!

The bureau of land management will probably have the last say, superseding the local laws. You might want to check there.

I'm not talking national parks, I know that's a no-no. I'm refering to Colorado state parks. One place says yes it's OK, another says no you can't carry. I think I'm gonna just carry a copy of the brochure with me and carry. If I'm doing it right nobody will know I have it anyway.
