Yeah, I carry a Beretta Tomcat in .32 or a .38 snubby. One of the dealers that I frequent told me that guys go in there and load up like they were headed for Baghdad. Then two months later they're buying a .380 or a snubby.

Excuse me for asking, but what is it that you're so afraid of that makes you want a "cannon" and bullet proof vest?

like i said before, tote it around for a while and you will see what we mean. there have been times i needed to carry my smith mod. 629 concealled and when you really feel the need for it you can overlook the discomfort. but for everyday carry i feel confidant with the little 9mm mak. that i hardly notice on me.

Three pounds of steel gets old really quick! And the bulletproof vest...most LEO's cannot wait to peel them off at the end of the shift, so they tell me.

Well I sertainly can't pass up the 400 for the Ruger Redhawk it's truly an amazing gun, the only other option I have is my p89 and I gave my Glock model 22 to my brother in law because he is also going into law enforcement but is already 21.

Well lets look at this kind of logically. Goods -.44 mag will pretty much handle anything you throw at it Bads -It will be overly difficult to hide a revolver with a 7 1/2 inch barrel (I carry a 4 1/2 inch barrel and I have had a hard time hiding that efficiently sometimes, but then again I always wear t-shirt and jeans) -Way overweight for a ccw -Bigger heavier rounds, won't be comfortable carrying a decent amount in case of reload -Such a big gun makes it harder to hide, if people notice you have the gun it takes away from the point of having a ccw -In some states if people notice you have a gun because you can't be discreet about it not only could someone get the cops to bother you about it, but you could lose your ccw license Not trying to get you down but I honestly think that, that is too much gun to be concealed reasonably.

I really hope you are not seriously going to try and carry a 7 in revolver! You should change your name to Tackelberry.

Geez!!! You must be a lot bigger than me. Sometimes in cool weather I carry a Smith Model 60 with a 5" bbl in a shoulder holster, but I'm usually glad to get back to my snubbie. The flash and roar would certainly impress the heck out of the bgs. Have you considered buying both of the Rugers and getting a double shoulder rig?

I'll tell you what gunney m, go take a tactical pistol course or even talk to a ccw instructor, or even a decent range master. They are all going to tell you that a 7 1/2 inch barreled revolver is way to impractical for ccw. And congrats on the idea of wearing a jacket, hope its a trench coat lol. Plus what about like 90-100 degree days where it will be uncomfortable to wear a jacket. Not only that but if you are wearing a jacket in that type of weather it is just going to make you look even more suspicious to those that notice things like that. And me being ex-leo I would notice. Not to mention anybody that has ever been to prison, then you have all those security minded individuals of which there are quite a few on this board that would notice. Noticing a few of your other posts you are planning on being leo, and possibly bounty hunter. When thinking of these career choices remember that discretion is the better part of valor. It is a good idea in everything you do to be discreet, until the time comes when you need to go all out and any attention focused on you makes no difference. So the point is, don't go around wearing a bullet proof vest carrying a 7 1/2 inch barreled revolver under your jacket in 95 degree weather. You are just asking for trouble and more than likely you are going to get it. I cannot express it enough, when carrying a concealed weapon you want nobody to look at you twice. It is best if you do not stand out, because when the time comes that you may need to act, anybody that knows what to look for will already be staring at you. I also remember what it was like to be 18 and think that I was invincible so please don't think I am trying to insult you here.

I understand, I was going to get it to shoot it and carry but since the ammo expensive I guess ill just stick to my p89. Last edited by gunney_m; 10-18-2007 at 02:06 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
