| You guys talk about killing the "a**hole" or "neutralizing the threat" That kind of jargon means nothing when you've been in the position of pulling out your weapon to take the life of someone else. Some decisions in life bear more gravity. I'd say deciding to shoot or not shoot may be some of the heaviest. I agree with many of you that I'd rather not. However, I can look you in the eye and tell you honestly that if I feel another human being is truly threatening my family or the lives of others and it is necessary that I stop them- I will. And when I decide to pull my weapon out, I will shoot. And because of our crazy wacky world of laws- I will usually shoot to kill. A dead man can't testify or file a lawsuit against you for defending yourself and others. It takes alot to push me that far down the line, but don't think I won't do it. |

| IMHO if you own or carry a firearm for defense you should first ask yourself these questions: 1. Can I retain my weapon proficiently, drawn or holstered, so that only I have control of its potential? 2. Can I store my weapon responsibly to keep it secure and out of the hands of unqualified adults, underage persons, and off the street in the event of a break-in? 3. Can I skillfully use my weapon with precision under a variety of conditions and circumstances? 4. Can I use my weapon justifiably and without hesitation to protect my life and the lives of others? If your answer to any of these questions is "no" you should consider further training from a reputable defense instructor or an alternative to firearms such as OC (pepper spray) or Tasers. | Deciding a strangers intentions isn't always the easiest thing. Here's a situation that I found myself in many years ago. It was my first day at a part time job. I needed more money than my first shift job paid so I took a second job pumping gas. They had me work a 3PM-10PM shift with an experienced young man so I could learn the job. At closing time he instructed me that we turn off all the lights except on the pumps and go out and take the readings off the pumps. While doing this we were surprised by two armed men who ordered us back into the station and into a small back room where the gas stations money was kept. At that point I was facing down the barrels of two pistols and had no idea what if anything I could or should do. I kept thinking, should I assume they will kill us and launch a last ditch unarmed attack or just let the robbery play out and hope we make it out alive. If I had been armed I had plenty of opportunity and could have easily pulled out a gun and shot both of them. As it turns out they left with the cash and left us with our lives. If I would have been armed and shot them both it could easily have been justified. If I had been armed I have no doubt I would have shot them both. As it ended up they were both caught and convicted and I'm glad I don't have to deal with having killed them. That was 34 years ago in New Jersey and since then I moved to Pennsylvania where I have been able to get a CCW. One good thing came out of that situation. I've lived through it and been given an opportunity to think it through. Now I have no doubt whatsoever that if I faced such a thing again, I will shoot and not take a chance on the armed thugs undetermined intentions. Don |

| I carry and I am willing to stop a attack on myself or others as needed. I will not shoot to kill, wound or warn, I will shoot to stop an attack.

| I usually always have a pocket knife on me, in my area theres not a lot of mugging or shootings going. Only exception is up in omaha where the kid lost it and went to the mall. If I ever get to an area where its known for any kinda personal attacks with guns then yes I would start carrying. I've read about the issues with if u kill someone they stay with you, I can still see animal's in my head and they seem more innocent than a human nowadays. Just my .02
